This Week In School…
Year 3 – have been working hard on telling the time. They are getting good at reading clocks and solving problems! They have also written their own fables to teach people about a moral and have produced some excellent work! Year 4 – have been researching David Attenborough and have begun writing a factual biography about his incredible life. In Maths, they have been calculating area and perimeter. Year 4 have also started their new topics about living things (and their habitats) and volcanoes. Year 5 – have investigated angles, learning how to find missing angles and how to use a protractor. In English, they have been finishing off their argument for and against zoos. They have all worked very hard – keep it up! Year 6 – have continued to work really hard in preparation for their SATs – Keep it up Year 6, nearly there! In English, they have been writing some very informative leaflets about the environment and how we can all help to save the planet. Click here for this week's bulletin. This week's brainiac awards have been handed out for adding great detail to writing, making a massive effort to improve and even contributing some excellent ideas. Great work everyone!
Primrose class are learning about seasonal food in Design and Technology this term. They will be designing a meal using all seasonal food. As part of the lesson next week, Tuesday 2nd May, they will be tasting some seasonal vegetables.

It is vital that your child attends school every day next week. Tests will begin at 9am and therefore they need to be in school no later than 8:45am. In order to help them perform to the best of their abilities, we are inviting every child to have breakfast at school (Monday – Thursday). We will be inviting the children to join breakfast club from 8:15am where we will serve a choice of cereals or toast and a glass of apple/orange juice or milk. Year 3 – have travelled back in time this week to the Victorian era! We think the pupils and teachers are definitely glad they don’t live in Victorian times! Year 4 – have been creating amusing stories using all of the features of narrative writing and in Maths, they have been converting units of measurement by multiplying and dividing by 10s 100s and 1000s. They have also begun their Vicious Volcanoes topic! Year 5 – have started to measure and draw angles in Maths and in English, they have been creating a persuasive latter based on whether zoos are ethical or not. In Science, they are looking at how plants reproduce and are pollinated. Year 6 – have made a positive start back to school for their last term at IVJS. With only a few weeks to go before SATs, they are continuing to work hard towards their tests - keep up the good work Year 6! In English they have written some great fractured fairy tales, showing how their writing is progressing nicely. Click here for this week's bulletin. This week's brainiac awards have been handed out for getting stuck in with revision, being resistant and persevering with work and even being a model Victorian! Great work everyone.
As part of our Science learning this term, Animal Edutainment will be visiting us on Monday 24th April. The children will be learning about how animals adapt to their environments and about the nutrition that different animals need. This visit will involve the showing and handling of live animals and all of the children will get the opportunity to handle some of the animals themselves.
