We have had such a lovely half term so thank you to everyone who helped to make it so lovely.
Please click here to see the Easter Bulletin. Have a lovely Easter Break from everyone here at IVJS. This week we have seen some incredible Easter Bonnets made by our fabulously inventive students.
Well done to Crystal in Year 3, Ruby W in Year 4, Owen in Year 5 and Amy T in Year 6 who are our winners of the Bonnet competition. Brilliant job guys! Friday was Sport Relief Day 2016. We have had each class completing some very sporty
tasks to raise money for Sports Relief with everyone looked great as their Sporting Heroes, even if we did end up with more than one Mr Hawkes for the Day! This week in school…
Year 3 – have been carrying out their own investigations about the friction different materials create when toy cars travel across them. Year 4 – have been writing scientifically after completing an investigation into the melting point of chocolate. In maths, they have also been using protractors to measure angles. Year 5 – have swam a mile for sports relief, completing their water safety training. They have also created a wonderful poster for a local competition. Year 6 – have studied Romeo and Juliet as part of national Shakespeare Week. Click here for this week's bulletin. This week's Brainiac Awards have been handed out for great focus all week, for trying their absolute hardest in Maths and even getting a 40/40 in an Arithmetic test! Great job Guys!
Last week our lovely Buttercup class performed their brilliant class assembly about their magic school bus that took them to all the places they’ve been learning about in class. They visited China to see the New Year celerations (and some dragons!), back to Victorian times to see what life was like back then, Sherwood Forest to see the one and only Robin Hood and even had time to make a pit stop to a terrible future to see what would happen if we didn’t remember to renew, reuse, recycle!
Great job Guys! This week in school…
Year 3 – have been writing recounts about The Lighthouse Keeper’s video. In Science, they have been exploring magnets and what different items are attracted to them. Year 4 – have written leaflets about the British Monarch. They have researched Kings and Queens and how their role has changed over the years. In Maths, they have been multiplying & dividing and have looked at using the inverse operation. Year 5 – have written diary entries to explain planetary movement. Year 6 – have been doing some cross-curricular writing. They have created information texts exploring the journey of light through the eye. Click here for this week's bulletin. This week's Brainiac Awards have been handed out for an amazing class assembly, fantastic writing and even informative leaflets about the British Monarchy!
This week, we had an inspection to renew our Eco Schools Certification. This certification is to acknowledge that our school is one of the best around for not only being an Eco-friendly school, but it shows we all go above and beyond to have the best and most conscientious Eco-Warriors this school could dream of having!
We would like to thank our Eco-Schools team, Mrs Chapman Allen and Miss Rogers who have helped make this possible with an even bigger thank you to Mrs Orr who has given so much of her spare time and dedication to the cause! |
