Return to School on 2nd September 2021

30/8/2021

A very warm welcome back to school for 2021/2022 on Thursday 2nd September at 8:45am. As the rules around COVID-19 have started to relaxed many things will return to how they were before the pandemic but we will also be keeping some of the ‘new ways’ because they worked so well.

Before and After School

In the mornings, 8:45am children will be dropped off at the front of school (the same as they do now) and stand on the grass and wait until the gates are opened – all children need to be in school by 8:55am

At the end of the day, we have decided to continue to dismiss from the grass at the front of school but the timings will have changed.

3:15pm Years 3 and 6
3:20pm Years 4 and 5.

We would like to encourage as many older children in years 5 and 6 to walk home. If you would like your child to walk home from school then please contact Miss Lainsbury on the front desk to arrange for an online form to be completed.

The school office will remain closed to parents for the time being, if you need to contact Miss Lainsbury, please give the office a call, send an email or speak to a member of staff outside before and after school.

On those PE Days all children will be required to wear their PE Kit to school throughout the day – there will be no need for uniform.

The PE Kit to be worn should be:

Plain white T-Shirt
Black shorts
Black Trainers for outdoor games and playtimes
Plain Black/Grey track suit may be worn for outdoor sports in Winter

Wraparound Childcare At IVJS – new for September 2021

Energy Kidz will now provide wraparound childcare here at IVJS. The club is held on our school site and offer places to children from both the Infant and Junior schools. All bookings and payments will be made directly through Energy Kidz.

For more information see the page on our website by clicking this link http://www.ivervillage-jun.bucks.sch.uk/wraparound-childcare.html

Please send your child to school every day with their lunch boxes, a water bottle – there will be no need for a bag and the children will not be using the lockers.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms in children

Children can get coronavirus (COVID-19), but they seem to get it less often than adults and it's usually less serious.

The main symptoms of COVID-19 are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot, for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

What to do if your child has symptoms

If your child has any of the main symptoms of COVID-19, even if they're mild:

  • Get a PCR test (test that is sent to a lab) to check if they have COVID-19 as soon as possible.
  • Your child should stay at home and not have visitors (self-isolate) until you get the test result – they can only leave home to have the test. Check if you and anyone else your child lives with need to self-isolate.
  • Please call the school office to inform of any illness.

We are really looking forward to the new school year and welcoming you back to Iver Village Junior School on Thursday 2nd September.
