Today we gave out our Believe, Achieve, Succeed awards to 3 children from each class. These awards are prestigious and given out to those children who have made the most progress during the Autumn term. Well done to everyone! ![]() This Week In School… Year 3 – have had a very busy week doing their assessments! Miss Short and Miss Couves are very proud of just how hard everyone has worked this half term! They have also been looking at the continent of Europe for their Humanities topic and creating projects about a given country within it. In Maths, they have been practising times-tables and using the four operations. Year 4 – have been finishing their story from Varjak Paw in English and have been revising fact pairs in Maths. They have also been investigating dangerous volcanoes in their Humanities lessons. Year 4 have also been doing their end of term assessments, well done guys for getting through such a busy week! Year 5 – have rocked their assessments this week! As a treat, they solidified their knowledge of Ancient Greece by spending an afternoon watching various Greek films to learn more about the country and people of the time. Year 6 – have had a big focus on grammar, following their test week last week. The children have also been working hard to finish and publish their newspaper articles about an invasion of varmints! In Maths, they have been learning how to multiply fractions and mixed numbers. What an incredible concert on Thursday!
Thank you to everyone who came out in their masses to support our fabulous choir and rocking musicians who performed some of the most beautiful (and rocking) solos! It is so heart-warming to know that even on a horrible cold December Thursday, there are so many of you in our wonderful community who still come out and support us! Thursday was a very busy day this week for our choir with trips to Heathrow and The Pinewood Hotel, as well as the evening Carol Concert!
Our Upper School headed off to the Pinewood Hotel to entertain The Rotary Club which carries on a long standing tradition, IVJS choir have been lending their incredible voices to the Rotary club since some of the children’s parents were in the choir! Our Lower School Choir headed to Heathrow Airport for the day to provide some festive cheer to the staff in the offices. They managed to raise over £375 for the school in donations. Thank you to all the parents who helped make these trips possible and everyone who has helped and donated their time and money. The biggest ‘Thank You’ to Miss Bjorck who makes the choir her mission, putting in hours and hours of her time every year and orchestrates some fabulous performances! Our Reading Gladiators are totally absorbed in their latest book, Strange Star and were delighted to take part in the latest mini-challenge which was to perform a scene from the book. Thank you to Mrs Orr for coordinating our lovely readers!
Ok, so it might not be the best season for its grand unveiling but we are thrilled to announce that we have, thanks to all of you, raised the funds and have fully built our brand new, outside classroom! The PTA raised £4000 towards the cost of this amazing gazebo.
The children have had a fantastic few days keeping an eye on the builders during break times and of course, giving them their encouragement! We all can't wait to get learning in the new building, thank you to everyone who helped us raise the funds with our welly walks to gardening clubs sales. We have had very limited replies from our choir singers as to who is attending our Carol Concert on Thursday evening. Please let us know if your child will be able to attend the concert so we can have an idea of numbers and who to have in rehearsals this week.
The Carol Concert will be held at St Peters Church in the Iver Village High Street from 6pm to 7pm. ![]() We have managed to secure 12 more places for the Bikeability Course, taking place in January for Year 5 and 6s.
