This Week In School… Year 3 – have continued to learn fractions and have completed their Just So stories which proves how great our Year 3s’ imaginations are! In Humanities, they have just begun to look at Europe as a continent while in Science, they have just started looking at how human body works. Year 4 – have been working on writing a narrative story based on the character Edward Tulane. In Maths, they have been learning about symmetry, 2D shapes and all their properties. Year 5 – have created a leaflet about Epcot and all the magical attractions Disneyland has to offer which links in with our book of the half-term. In Maths, they have been learning about angles and how to find missing angles. Year 5 went exploring the playground in search of angles. They have also learnt about keys and symbols in an atlas in geography. Year 6 – have been producing some great persuasive writing linked to their book, Varmints. They have also had a big focus on grammar this week in preparation for the upcoming SATs. Keep up the hard work Year 6! We have provisionally booked a 4-night residential visit to the Windmill Hill near Hailsham, Sussex from Monday 14th October – Friday 18th October 2019. The visit includes a full programme of activities and is similar to those we have run in the past. The group will be accompanied by teaching staff from the school and fully qualified instructors at the centre supervise each activity. Whilst the trip is not essential for curriculum purposes, it provides an excellent opportunity for children to extend their learning and to refine their personal and social skills. A meeting for parents giving detailed arrangements will be held nearer the time. Please see the links to the curriculum newsletters for the Summer Term below.
