After three days of joining Joe Wicks for PE we decided (or rather my aching legs did) that we would complete our own mile-athon. The children completed on average 16 laps of the playground. Once back in the classroom the children completed their learning and Year 5 wrote some exceptional poems about abandoned places. Then it was time to celebrate a special birthday - no not Captain Tom's.... but the lovely Ralph! The children made Ralph masks, posters and a birthday video for him. The music journey continued and we have reached present day where the children recognised some familiar artists. Here is our very own Miss Couves reading the next 2 chapters from one of her favourite books... did you enjoy yesterday's video? Happy Birthday to Ralph, our school dog, who is 6 today. He is sporting a rather fetching jumper on this cold, cold morning. Have a great day, we hope Miss Bjorck spoils you.
I am sure you have all heard of the amazing Captain Tom, who has raised more than £20million for the NHS. To mark his 100th Birthday, Mr Hawkes thought it might be nice to do 100 reps (in a day) of your chosen exercise. BE CREATIVE! 100 skips, 100 keepy uppies, 100 laps of your garden or up and down the stairs, 100 arm raises, 100 squats, 100 high knees, 100 hops... Be as creative as you like! Send pictures to your class teacher! What have we tried to do today Brain? Same thing we do every day Iver.....
Joe Wicks pushed the children to their physical limits but they still gave it a good go! They enjoyed their break outside as the weather gave them their freedom once more! They quickly settled back to their learning and completed their maths and English tasks. We continued our musical journey through the decades. We time travelled from the 60's to the 90's. The children wrote their own raps.... yo yo yo take a look a the photo...... bro! 😎 Here is our very own Miss Couves reading the next 2 chapters from one of her favourite books... did you enjoy yesterday's video? Hugo and Ralph are using their free time to complete their Blog on Purple Mash...
What have you completed on Purple Mash? Please email your class teacher! We did not let the weather dampen our spirits!
The children came in and got their motivation from exercising with Joe Wicks - there was no stopping them after this! After their daily learning doing maths and English they spent break playing Dodgeball in the hall with Mr Matthams. At 11.00 a.m. we held a minute's silence to honour the NHS and key workers. This week we are researching music through the decades. Today the children started their project by learning all about music from pre-historic times to the decade of Rock and Roll, the 1950's. They enjoyed listening to swing music, Elvis Presley and also dancing to Viva Las Vegas and Jail House Rock. The children have also begun preparing their script for their own news bulletin which they are planning to film and record. Premier League Primary Stars
The Premier League have recently updated their website with new resources linking football to: Maths, Literacy, PE, Science and ICT. These resources are great! They are also updating constantly with new competitions to take part in! Try this one linked to administration around football: Click here Healthy Minds Healthy Minds have come into school this year to run a workshop based around positivity and calmness. They are a relatively new organisation so have limited resources but have started to do workshops through a zoom meeting. (Zoom has been a revelation throughout this pandemic and has helped families and friends stay connected through this time. It can be downloaded from any app store for no cost and no sign up). During this difficult time we all need to be aware of our mental well-being so if you would like to give it a try then the times are : Monday – 1:00pm – 1:30pm Wednesday 3:00pm – 3:30pm Friday 10:00am -10:30am If you would like to get involved please get in contact with your teachers who will be able to provide you with a meeting ID and password.
