Just a little something we threw together... We wish everyone a lovely Christmas and a happy New Year. This week in school…
Year 3 – have been retelling the story of Beowulf as a play script. They have also been learning about 2D and 3D shapes, they have found out all about their properties. Year 4 – have been retelling the story of Beowulf and have been creating drama and suspense. In Maths, they have been recapping the four operations and the formal written method to solve each. Year 5 – have started writing their letter to the council appealing to them to stop the lorries passing through the High Street. To end the week, they have been making musical instruments Year 6 – have had a wonderful week- They’ve worked hard on their Maths and can now add and subtract fractions with ease. They have improved their grammar and are working hard on being ready for today’s dance off. Click here to view this week's bulletin. This week's brainiac awards have been handed out for being incredibly helpful, helping with the carol concert and even writing a brilliant narrative! Great work everyone.
This week in school…
Year 3 – have been expert scientists this week, learning about air resistance and how surface area affects it. Both classes have really grown their brains during Maths learning about multiplication. Year 4 – have been writing an explanation text about the human digestive system. In Maths, they have been learning about volume, capacity and measurements. Year 5 – have finished their Minecraft Beowulf story and they have been doing more assessments, showing just how much progress they have made in Year 5! Year 6 – have been learning all about ‘balanced arguments’. They have also been studying both sides of lots of issues, in particular the pros and cons of Jamie Oliver’s School Dinners Project. This week's brainiac awards have been handed out for always doing the right thing, excellent Maths skills and even stepping in last minute to save the lower school production! Great job guys.
This week in school…
Year 3 – have learnt all about the famous fossil hunter, Mary Anning and written their own biographies all about her. They have also learnt about decimals and how they relate to fractions in Maths. Year 4 – have been practising for their production, learning lines, songs and dances. They really hope you all enjoy it! Year 5 – have started to write the story of Beowolf, based in the world of Minecraft. They were also involved in British Values – democracy day. Year 5 teachers held a debate based on school uniform. Year 6 – have dived into the work of fractions and can now compare and find fractions of numbers with ease. They have also written some amazing Mayan creation stories and made their Pop Up art work!
