We would like to wish everyone a very lovely break and we look forward to seeing everyone in the new term, on Monday 16th April. Thank you to all the children and parents who attended our Maths Eggstravaganza this evening! We were so pleased to see so many of you come along to try all things Maths. So many happy children left with an Easter Egg after completing our challenge - it was so egg-citing!
On Tuesday the 27th March, seven year 3’s attended a football tournament against 20 other schools across Berks and Bucks held at Cressex Astro Turf in High Wycombe. After winning all of their group games 1-0, 5-0 and 3-0, IVJS found themselves into the top group! IVJS won their first game 1-0 and drew the second 1-1 meaning they needed to win their last game by more than one goal to win the tournament. After being 2-0 up the opposition team scored a late goal meaning IVJS needed a goal in the last three minutes to ensure victory! After Oliver smashed the ball against the post, it seemed unlikely that IVJS would find the goal they needed until Liam scored twice in quick succession to win the tournament! The year 3’s that attended competed with passion, pride and where such incredible sportsman that other teams started to support them! Well done to all seven footballers and thank you to all parents who helped with lifts and supported us in the rain! Incredible IVJS at it again
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Coffee Morning today. We discussed the topic of Attendance at school and how we are planning to improve the attendance of our children at IVJS.
This Week In School… Year 3 – have been retelling and writing their own version of the Norse Myth, Thor and his Mighty Hammer, using ambitious words, subordinate clauses and many other language features. In Maths, they have been consolidating their learning and revisiting place value and formal methods of calculation. Year 4 – have been looking at how to represent tenths and hundredths as decimals in Maths and in English, they are writing a newspaper report based on the stolen apples from Noah Barleywater Runs Away. Year 5 – have been looking at percentage of amounts in Maths, Year 5 found this challenging but by the end of the week they conquered these challenges. In English, they have started writing a diary entry as a crew member on Odysseus's boat. In Humanities, they have been looking at how the Ancient Greeks have shaped our world today. Year 6 – have enjoyed reading this half term's book, 'Varmints' by Helen Ward & Marc Craste. They are now working on writing their own diary entries from the perspective of a varmint! The children have also been spending time revising their grammar skills ready for next week's mock SATs.
