At Iver Village Junior School we all believe that every child has individual and unique needs and that all children have a right to a broad, balanced, relevant and appropriately challenging curriculum inclusive of all children and scaffolded to meet their needs. We aim to create a positive and exciting environment in which all pupils can develop to their full potential and become confident, independent individuals.

Adjustments are made to the learning environment and to the curriculum to ensure that children with Special Educational Needs can access the learning and progress to reach their potential and we liaise closely with outside agencies to facilitate this.

- Create an inclusive environment where the whole school community values the individuality of all our children giving all the opportunity to achieve their full potential
- Ensure that our curriculum is responsive to all children whatever their individual need
- Promote positive attitudes and individual confidence, ensuring all children experience success
- Identify, assess, record & regularly review pupil’s special educational needs
- Encourage parents/carers to be involved in planning and supporting all stages of their child’s development
- Make efficient use of support services

- Communication and interaction needs - speech, language and communication needs, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
- Cognition and learning needs - moderate non-specific learning difficulties, and specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia or dyscalculia.
- Social, emotional and mental health difficulties - behaviour reflecting underlying mental health or emotional difficulties, attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, attachment disorder.
- Sensory and/or physical needs - hearing, visual or multi-sensory impairments or physical disability.
