This week in school…
Year 3 – have been writing some excellent descriptions about Icarus. Everyone has grown their brains and really enjoyed Maths time while learning about perimeters. They are excelling in Cracking Maths too! Year 4 – have been learning about time in maths this week. They have been learning to reading analogue and digital time. In English, they have started writing first person narratives about landing on an alien planet, making it full of suspense! Year 5 – have been writing recounts of their egg-citing Science Day! They have really focused on adverbial phrases and modal verbs. In Maths, they have continued their learning about fractions, recognising how to add and subtract them. Year 6 – have been making wonderful progress in all areas. In Maths, they have been working hard to get better and better in Cracking Maths, the levels are shooting up! In English, they have written a diary detailing a ghost story, spooky! Click here for this week's bulletin. This week's brainiacs have been handed out for showing excellent motivation, a great attitude towards learning and even phenomenal contributions to every lesson! Fantastic job guys!
You may be aware that our school is taking part in BBC Terrific Scientific. This is an exciting new science project aimed at 9-11 year olds, encouraging them to take part in a series of accessible mass-participation investigations at schools across the UK.

Year 3 – have very much enjoyed Science Day and have had a blast transferring some of this new knowledge to their own Science work. Alongside this, they have written their own articles about their day and had fun interviewing some helpful Year 6s! Year 4 – have been identifying the features of diary entries. They have begun drafting their very own diary entry about the fantastic day the Science Wizard came to IVJS. In Maths, they have been converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and converted fractions into decimals. Year 5 – have been learning about improper and mixed fractions. They have also completed their recipes for chocolate biscuits thinking hard about up-levelling their writing by including adverbials and conjunctions. Year 6 – have had a ball on Science Day learning about forces and gravity. They’ve studied different environments, made huge progress in their Maths arithmetic and have written a powerful descriptive story called ‘The Graveyard’. Their enthusiasm is endless! This week's brainiac awards have been handed out for persevering in Maths, working hard at understanding and independence and even never giving up, resorting to using the other hand to write with when injured! Incredible work guys!

This week in school…
Year 3 – have created amazing play scripts with excellent detail and stage direction. Alongside this, they are learning about what makes up the U.K and just how the Union Jack was formed. In Science, they have been investigating what helps plants grow the best. Year 4 – have been learning about fractions, finding fractions of amounts and ordering hundredths in Maths. In English, they have written a narrative with familiar settings and characters. They have also been writing their very own Horrid Henry stories, they are so good! Year 5 – have been writing their instructions about how to make delicious chocolate biscuits! They have focused on using temporal conjunctions, imperative verbs and wow adverbs! In Maths, they have been looking at equivalent fractions. Year 6 – have returned to their first full week back full of enthusiasm and energy for the new year. This week, they have been writing some awe-inspiring descriptive stories and learned all about the Water-Cycle. A lovely start to the new term. Click here for this week's bulletin. Daffodil Class have been selected to take part in an Echoes Seven Music event at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 20th March 2017. They will be singing and playing the drums in the Echoes Concert alongside other children from schools throughout Buckinghamshire. The concert will start at 7pm with parents welcome to attend; we will send details of how to buy tickets closer to the time.
