This Week In School… Year 3 – have busy writing an informal letter to the Iron Man asking for his help to protect our school. In Maths, they have worked hard solving word problems involving capacity. They have also completed end of term assessments to show all their learning this term. Well done to all year 3s for an excellent first term with IVJS! Year 4 – have been busy writing an adventure narrative about the journey of a plastic bag around the world. In Maths, they’ve looked at factor pairs and integer scaling. They even made cereal boxes in DT for their packaging project. Year 5 – have been starting to write a newspaper article on Odysseus’ arrival home after his long journey. They have also been writing leaflets on all the information they have learnt about materials over the term! Their Greek clay pots are looking amazing and just need the finishing touches now! Year 6 – have been working hard doing mock SATs in Grammar, Spelling, Reading and Maths to show us their fantastic learning so far. In English they have been writing a diary entry from the perspective of a varmint, linked to their book 'Varmints' and in Science they have been exploring the characteristics of micro-organisms. This Week In School… Year 3 – have been busy working hard learning about capacity and converting millilitres to litres, and vice versa. In English they have been very creative and written a poem about the Iron Man using metaphors and similes. Year 4 – This week, year 4 performed in Bah Humbug! A retelling of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’. In English, they’ve started planning an adventure narrative based on their current book, ‘One Plastic Bag’. In Maths, they’ve been busy solving division word problems. In DT, they have started planning their own packaging to a brand new cereal. Year 5 – This week Year 5 have been creating their own Greek pots ready to decorate them. In Literacy they have finished writing their diary entry imagining they were on a boat with Odyessus on their way home. In maths Year 5 have moved onto shape and working out the perimeter. Year 6 – This week, year 6 have been publishing their newspaper reports about an invasion of varmints and have now started their next piece of writing linked to the book 'Varmints', a diary entry. In Humanities they have continued to learn about South America, this time focusing on the mountains of the region. |
