Dear Parents/Guardians, We are very excited to be able to welcome all the children back to school on Monday 8th March. We will be operating the same systems as we did in the Autumn term and below is a summary in case you have forgotten!
Wrap Around Care (7.30am – 4.30pm): We are only able to provide very limited places for parents who have no other means of child care. The costs will be £7 for the morning and £3.50 for the after school care. Places MUST be booked a week in advance. Please call the school reception to book. Parental Agreement: Please see the Parental Agreement for the safe return of pupils to school on 8th March 2021. Please be aware, if you are sending your child into school, then we will presume that you are in agreement with, and will follow, the points in the parental agreement. Please click on the document below for the full parent agreement:
For selected pupils (parents informed individually), Reading Gladiator sessions will be run during the school day and the pupils will be reading, discussing, debating themes and analysing the selected texts. Additionally, the children will be set reading homework each week to be completed ready for the forthcoming session and as such they have been issued with a plastic wallet to keep their book and reading journal in. Ideally, they should bring the book into school every day.
Reading Gladiators is a national scheme and there are competition challenges that accompany the books, some challenges involve the pupils and/or the artwork they produce being photographed or videoed and then uploaded onto the Reading Gladiator Website. We would be grateful if you would give your permission for child to be photographed so that their pictures may be used in external media as competition entries. Please note, should your child not be allowed to have their image shared externally, they are still welcome in the Reading Gladiators club. If you have received a text message informing you that your child is taking part in their year group's Reading Gladiators club, please fill in the permission form below: Yours sincerely, Miss Bjorck This is an exciting new idea that we are developing on our website. We have started by choosing books that support the children’s Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) development and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). However, as this project grows, we will be adding a wider range of books that we know children will love. Feel free to browse around and choose any book to read or listen to, all you have to do is click on the book cover and it will direct you to the website. It is quick and simple to use and it is accessible through the homepage. We hope that the selection of books chosen may support children who are having issues at home by helping to develop children’s confidence, resilience and self-belief. It should also help to explain tricky subjects to children and inspire them whilst broadening their horizons. Our aim is that through this additional reading at home it may foster kindness, tolerance, respect and equality.
We really hope you enjoy these resources as they develop. This term's Parent/Teacher Appointments will all be held over video call through the SchoolCloud website, here are the instructions for logging on to your appointment:
