Year 3 – have started reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. They have written exciting diary entries from the perspective of Hogarth! They have also focused on using descriptive language. In Maths, they have worked on applying their learning to a range of problems. Well done Year 3s for completing your first half term here as juniors! Year 4 – have learnt strategies to multiply and divide numbers and explained factor pairs in Maths. In English, they have finished reading The Tin Forest and explained the differences between the settings. Year 5 – have written a description about the Kraken in English. They have looked at mentally multiplying numbers in Maths and in Science; they have had a look at flammable objects and how to be safe around these items. Year 6 – have been writing an informal letter in character, pretending they are a crew member on Ernest Shackleton’s ship Endurance. In Maths, they have learnt how to solve calculations using long division. Their class assembly was a great success this week too, they would like to thank everyone who came in to watch. Click here for this week's bulletin. As part of our exciting history curriculum we have invited an experienced archaeologist in to teach the children about the Mayan civilisation. Throughout the day the children will get to explore clothing, tools and pottery used in the Mayan period. In addition, they will discover the magnificent achievements of the Maya in architecture, art, maths, astronomy and chocolate!
Click here for the full letter. As part of our exciting history curriculum we have invited Gripping History in to teach the children about Early Saxon Britain. Throughout the Day the children will get to explore settlements, prepare for a voyage and have a go at some Anglo-Saxon Monk writing.

Throughout the day the children will participate in numerous activities as they learn about what happens following the death of a mighty Pharaoh, including tomb building, the mummification process, burial ceremonies and, finally, the crowning of the new Pharaoh.

Throughout the Day the children will get to explore clothing, tools and pottery used in Prehistoric periods as well as comparing Neolithic homes (Prehistoric period) with their own.

Year 3 – have focussed on applying their formal methods to real life situations including handling money and finding change in Maths. In English, they have finalised and published their information texts about the history of Earth. They are looking forward to working on their new text “The Iron Man” next week! Year 4 – have been revising multiplying and dividing by 10s, 100s and 1000s. They have solved reasoning problems and used the inverse to solve missing numbers. In English, they have written a narrative setting describing the character’s dream world. Year 5 – have completed their newspaper articles on refugees. In Maths, they have looked at additions and subtraction word problems. They even did a very exciting Science experiment to see the different reactions in the Mentos and Coke experiment. Year 6 – have either been away on PGL, where they have taken part in exciting activities such as climbing telegraph poles, flying across a trapeze, zip-lining, orienteering, and swinging on a giant swing, or here in Iver! The children who stayed here local have also had a great week taking part in crafting activities, going on trips to Bekonscot Model Village and Wingrove Farm where they picked vegetables and work experience where all the children helped throughout the school.
