When The Pirates Took Over IVJS

14/10/2015

On Friday, pirates took over the school for the day, taking Miss Digweed hostage and demanding a ransom of exceptional work from the pupils for her release. It's OK, we got her back due to the outstanding work produced from everyone and finding clues in a treasure hunt, they even managed to get the pirates to promise never to terrorise these shores again...

Foxglove Class Assembly

9/10/2015

Our Year 6 pupils entertained us this week with their two part assembly.  The first half was a report by the pupils on the PGL residential week. While a power point of their acrobatic photos played in the background, they told us of their favorite moments during the activity week and entertained us with a catchy 'repeat after me' song.
During the second half, pupils who did not attend PGL explained that they had been learning about Britain during the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. They presented their information in an extraordinary X Factor style show with star turns from The Spice Girls, Annie Lennox, Mariah Carey and Michael Jackson! It was a first class performance!

IVJS Weekly Bulletin - 9 October 2015

9/10/2015

Breaking News; This week in school…
News just in. Today Iver Village Junior School was taken over by fierce pirates who took Miss Digweed hostage. The children had to complete tasks and activities to regain her freedom!
  • Year 3 – wrote a diary entry recounting their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
  • Year 4 – have created newspaper report stating the main events that happened during the day.
  • Year 5 – have been writing persuasive letters to try and persuade these ferocious pirates to return Miss Digweed.
  • Year 6 – have made wanted posters to try and capture the main pirate before it was too late!
In addition, maths activities were based around finding treasure using maps, co-ordinates and directions. During the afternoon we completed art activities, recreating the terrifying pirates using different materials and resources. Fortunately, the children accumulated enough ‘gold coins’ during the day’s activities to bargain with the uncompromising pirates and Miss Digweed was released unharmed. The pirates have now gone and promised not to return to these lands again…
