On Friday, Year 3 visited the Reading Museum. Whilst we were there we experienced life in a real Victorian classroom! They learnt about adding using Guinea, Pounds, Shillings and Farthings, wrote using pens that we dipped in ink and discovered how the Union Jack was formed! The teacher was very strict and everyone is glad that schools are very different now! This week saw our British Values day of the term, this time, with a focus on Fairtrade. Our classes had the opportunity to explore what Fairtrade means, understand what the symbol means, where it comes from etc.
Children baked banana bread using only Fairtrade ingredients - it was delicious! Using an atlas, they located countries which produce the Fairtrade products that they used. Other groups looked at the journey of the cocoa bean from tree to shop and designed a new Fairtrade chocolate bar wrapper for their favourite chocolate bars. ![]() This Week In School… Year 3 – have continued to work on creating an advert to persuade people to visit Iceland.
