This Week In School…
Year 3 – have been very busy this week learning about time in Maths, including solving problems about time and writing their own questions for the class to solve. In English, they have been writing a diary, imagining they are a Victorian child having to go to work in a mine. The descriptive language used has been fantastic and they have been really getting into character. This was supported by a 'Now Press Play' experience children's lives in the Victorian era. In Science, they have been learning the names of bones in a human skeleton and investigating how muscles work. In PSHE, they have continued to work collaboratively designing an accessible garden and have had to keep within a tight budget. Year 4 – have started their brand new topic on the Egyptians and got to meet and interview Howard Carter! They continued to learn even more about the Ancient Egyptians during an exciting orienteering afternoon. Year 4 also began learning about all of the different types of teeth and their functions. During this lesson on teeth, they had the fun job of creating their own made-up animal and deciding exactly what teeth it needed depending on it's diet. Year 5 – have had a busy week! This week has been dominated by swimming lessons that the majority of the children have thoroughly enjoyed. The children have made so much progress this week already which has been really lovely to see. For Year 5 Maths, they have been learning about decimals up to 2 decimal places and linking them to their previous work on fractions. They are using a short film called 'The Girl And The Fox' in English to plan a narrative, telling the story. They have planned and written introductions so far and will continue to write next week. Year 6 – have really enjoyed their swimming lessons this week and have coped really well with the timetable changes. Back in the classroom, the children have been writing a recount in English; focusing on the trip to Cuffley Camp last week. In Maths, they have been learning about volume and time. The children are coming towards the end of their Humanities topic on the history of crime and punishment and are starting to produce leaflets about the different changes throughout the various periods. In French, they have also produced some very informative leaflets all about France and particularly, Bastille Day. In Computing, the children have had the opportunity to view each other’s blogs and make comments on what they have read. Comments are closed.
