This Week In School… Year 3 – have been busy learning all about measuring mass in maths. In English, Year 3 have begun writing a poem regarding Gregory Cool's journey to Tobago. Year 4 – have started out geometry topic in Maths and have looked at the properties of quadrilaterals and triangles, they have been working hard to identify lines of symmetry and drawing symmetrical figures. In English, they been planning the next adventure of Noah Barleywater and writing detailed character descriptions. In Science, they have begun looking at classifications and sorting out animals into different categories. They have then gone on to look at the different food chains of different animals while in PSHE, they have been studying fair trade. Year 5 – have been looking at co-ordinates, both writing and plotting and then moved on to transition of points in Maths. They are familiar with the x and y axis and how to write co-ordinates in brackets. In English, they are planning a description of a tardigrade, a real-life creature that has lived for 500 million years! Everyone was amazed at what it can do and how it can stay alive anywhere! They will be writing an interesting description next week. For their Geography topic, they have been making comparisons between Iver Village and China. They have been looking at how the land has been used in both locations. Year 6 – have finished their non-chronological reports about the environment in English and are now starting their next piece of writing, which is a persuasive letter. In Maths, they have been revising and consolidating their knowledge and understanding of fractions. The children have started a new topic in Art - Pop Art; and have been learning about the artists Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. They have produced their own piece of Pop Art based on Roy Lichtenstein and these are looking very effective. Rehearsals continue for our end of year production and the actors are gradually all getting used to their characters. We hope to go script free next week! Comments are closed.
