This Week In School… Year 3 – have been working on number bonds, sequences and rounding up and down in Maths. In English, they have enjoyed writing a diary entry using the Tin Forest story using the Year 3 writing criteria. Year 4 – have been writing and editing their leaflets about recycling and the impact of waste on our environment in English. In Maths, they have continued looking at place values and been learning how to add and subtract thousands. In Science, they’ve had a class competition to see who can identify all eleven parts of the digestive system the quickest! Year 5 – have been working on how to solve calculations using negative numbers as well as rounding 4 and 5 digit numbers, both up and down. In English, they have been writing their own poems based on The Journey, while in Science, they have been learning about different materials and their states of matter; they carried out a fun experiment by dissolving various substances in water to see what type of solution they created (many of us loved the smell of coffee!). Year 6 – have made a great start to the year and have been working hard in English to produce some exciting story openers focusing on different genres. Their Science topic of ‘Evolution and Inheritance’ was given a great start when Zoolab visited last Friday, giving the children a chance to handle some interesting creatures! They have also enjoyed tasting and evaluating different bread from various parts of the world as part of their new DT topic. Comments are closed.
