This Week In School…
Year 3 – have been consolidating their learning in Maths by revising the four operations, ready for assessments next week. In English, they have been enjoying writing a biography about the fictional character Gregory from the book Gregory Cool.
Year 4 – have begun learning about the properties of triangles and been working hard to compare them in Maths. In English, they have written some tricky Who am I riddles, where they have been using lots of description and similes to hide the identity of the animal they have written about. In PSHE, they have written letters to family members trying to persuade them to buy fair trade bananas.
Year 5 – have been working hard as Mathematicians, converting between metric units; so far they have converted measurements of length, volume and weight and applied this to word problems. In English, Year 5 have been hands on and have felt the four different blankets form our book. They are now in the process of creating a poem using all of their fun adjectives and poetry features. They have also been busy working with salt dough, creating their designs ready for bread making later this term.
Year 6 – have been working hard on rehearsals for their production, with the singing and acting starting to come together. Now just for the dancing... In Science this week, the children have been researching healthy lifestyles in preparation for creating a fact sheet. As part of Clean Air Day, most of the children took part in a Science investigation to measure the capacity of their lungs compared to their height. They will be using the results in further science lessons. They have also learnt about Mayan writing and the Mayan calendar in Humanities and have been making their own calendars, as well as learning to write numbers as the Mayan people did.
