This Week In School…
Year 3 – have been finishing their Tin Forest poems and working hard to include expanded noun phrases, similes, metaphors and rhetorical questions. In Maths, they have been solving addition and subtraction word problems using the expanded method for addition and the formal method of subtraction.
Year 4 – have written their adventure stories in English, taking their plastic bag from the sweltering heat of Gambia on a world tour before being recycled. In Maths, they have been concentrating on subtraction and inverse operations. In Science, they have concluded their scientific enquiry into tooth decay and written up their experiment.
Year 5 – have been working on word problems in Maths this week and applying their knowledge of addition and subtraction to real life. In English, they have completed their news report on the crisis of the Syrian Refugee camps. Kipling class have had great fun creating our Lyre's, they can't wait to learn more about the Ancient Greek traditions next half term!
Year 6 – have either been away on their PGL trip or here, having a great time. Those who have remained in school have been taking part in various activities including: a technology challenge where they had to create a fashion outfit out of black sacks; designing their own t-shirts; sporting activities; graffiti and pop art; and learning about the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's decades and then producing a mood board linked to one of the decades. They also had a great morning out at the local Wingrove Farm where they were able to learn about the vegetables produced on the farm and even picked some vegetables to bring home.
