This Week In School…
Year 3 – have created some fantastic diary entries all about the Stone Age! They have slept in caves, completed cave painting and even gone hunting! In Maths, they have been discussing different types of lines including horizontal, vertical, diagonal, parallel and perpendicular. They have also discussed angles including acute, obtuse and right angles. In Science, they are investigated different types of rocks including metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary and have started to look into the rock cycle. Year 4 – have been designing and making their own mosaics. The children have all made their own stamps to make an effective design using paint. They have also been doing LOTS of Times Tables Rockstars practice. All of Year 4 have also taken part in a Now Press Play all about Pompeii and the disaster that occurred there in 79 AD. The children have learned about the disaster and have been using their knowledge to write a newspaper report of the event. Year 5 – have written a diary entry in English this week based on the book 'Cosmic'. They have been responsible for ensuring they include the language features from the success criteria. They have planned, written, edited and published the entire piece of writing independently. During Maths lessons, they have added and subtracted whole and decimal numbers, looked at decimal sequences and multiplied and divided decimal numbers by 10, 100 and 1000. They have continued with their topic based on the local area and compared it to China. They located both places on a map then compared the landscapes. Year 6 – have worked really hard during their SATs and we are really proud of the effort, resilience and perseverance they have shown throughout the week. Following the efforts put in each morning in their tests, each afternoon the children have had the opportunity to learn some skills in softball and have enjoyed the different aspects of this. In Computing, they have finished coding their text adventure games and will be moving on to a new topic soon. They are continuing to find out more about the Maya civilisation in Humanities and have been exploring their thoughts, feelings and actions linked to mental health in PSHE. Comments are closed.
