This year we have chosen to develop our school’s health and wellbeing curriculum, with the aim of supporting all our children in understanding how they can make healthy lifestyle choices.
As part of this, each year group will be growing vegetables and using them to cook healthy, nutritious meals.
In order to ensure all children can be involved with cooking we need to be aware of any dietary requirements they may have. Please return the form below as soon as possible to inform us of any specific questions.

We are excited to announce that this year we will be taking part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Big Soup Share! The Big Soup Share is a national event which hopes to involve as many people as possible around the country in sharing delicious, nutritious soup.
Every child will be involved in making soup and understanding how soup can be part of a healthy, balanced diet.
We would like to invite you to share the soup with your child on Wednesday 3rd October. The soup share will take place between 6:00pm and 7:00pm on this date. We hope that this evening will be a great way to celebrate your child’s efforts in school and for you to understand our plans for a healthier Iver Village Junior School!

Children across the UK are spending increasing amounts of time on the internet, and at younger ages. Although this brings many opportunities to enjoy themselves and learn, it also bring potential risks.
Buckinghamshire County Council are lucky enough to receive an award of money, as part of the Cybercrime grant from the Thames Valley Police and Crime Commissioner, to help younger children stay safe online.
Buckinghamshire have commissioned school drama specialists AlterEgo Creative Solutions (creators of Chelsea’s Choice) to provide a play suitable for children in Year 6. It will help them learn about online risk and healthy online behaviour and realtionships.
The play will be visiting 40 schools in Buckinghamshire and our school has secured a performance so that your child can benefit from this opportunity.
The play will be visiting our school on Thursday 27th September.
The play is age appropriate and it is called ‘Click’. It lasts approximately 45 minutes and will cover issues such as online safety, cyberbullying and good online communication. We will be doing follow up work to ensure that children get the maximum benefit from the play and it will be an important part of our online safety curriculum. As a follow up to the play, the children will also take part in a short, anonymous, opinion survey to measure the impact of the performance.
We hope that this will be a memorable way to enhance their safe internet usage and help our children to stay safe on line.

As part of our Science learning this term, ZooLab will be visiting Year 6 on Friday 14th September.  The children will be learning about how living things on Earth have changed over time. They will be introduced to the idea that characteristics are passed from parents to their offspring and they will begin to understand that variation in offspring over time can make animals more or less able to survive in particular environments.  This visit will involve the showing and handling of live animals and all of the children will get the opportunity to handle some of the animals themselves. 

Although we will encourage all of the children to join in with the activities it is important to note that no child will be forced to handle any animal that they don’t want to. ZooLab take health and safety very seriously and you can rest assured that all of the animals handled by your children are totally safe and unable to cause any harm. We will also have a strict hand washing policy that we will enforce at the end of the session. 

We are very lucky to have been able to fund this event from the profit of ice cream sales from last year so thank you to everyone who supported our ice cream stand.
