They Our Year 4 footballers attended a football tournament held in High Wycombe. IVJS competed against 16 other schools around Bucks and Berks and did incredibly well eventually winning three of their six games, drawing two and losing just one. Overall IVJS finished 3rd! Well done to all involved!
sWe had such a fantastic night on Friday with our very own Harry Potter Evening! Each person attending got to find out which house they belonged to with the incredible Sorting Hat whispering to cupcakes of all things, to reveal the houses. A special thank you to Hogwarts for the loan of the hat by the way.
We got to make a whole host of potions, made letters that love a good chew on book pages (they make great bookmarks!), drank butterbeer, played a good ol' game of Quidditch and even made our very own wands! Now, I think I need a little more practise to make mine work... ![]() Dear Parents/Guardians of Year 6, With the end of the year fast approaching, we will soon be sending your child’s details onto their secondary schools. The data we currently hold for the children includes:
Every parent is entitled to see a copy of the form that has been filled in for their child and these will be available on request from the secondary school. Parents can opt out of the transfer of data between schools however we would like to remind parents that most data items (attendance, exclusions, end of key stage results, pupil and parent details and details of any child protection issues) are sent via their electronic records as part of our legal responsibility to provide details to the new school and cannot be opted out of. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to the school. Please complete and return the slip below by Wednesday 20th June. Please note, this letter has already been sent to pupils as a paper copy. Yours sincerely, Miss Digweed ![]() This Week In School… Year 3 – have been writing reports about Tobago as they have read the book Gregory Cool which is about a boy who moved to Tobago. In Maths, they have been recapping the column method for addition and subtraction while both classes have been practising for their upcoming class assemblies! Year 4 – have been writing their balanced argument in English and in Maths, they have revised dividing by ten and hundred. Year 5 – have been revising factors, multiples and prime numbers in Maths this week. They have also completed their poems based on 'The Princess' Blankets'. In Humanities, they have been locating mountains in the UK, as well as learning about contour lines on a map. Year 6 – have been continuing to rehearse their end of year production, Cinderella Rockerfella. They have also been finalising their Community Cards and have started writing non-chronological reports about the environment. Some of the children have also received visits from the Year 7 teachers they will be having in September. This week, our friends at the Dog's Trust visited us to hold some workshops in school about how to behave safely around dogs, both in school and out in the community. Children were taught how to read and interpret a dog's body language so we can work out what our fluffy little friends are trying to tell us! @dogstrust
IVJS were lucky enough to attend a Year 3/4 Tennis Tournament competing against 6 schools in Buckinghamshire. IVJS showed amazing sportsmanship and skill - with a huge well done to Jujhar who won an award!
Dear Parents/Guardians of Year 6,
All Buckinghamshire secondary schools hold their Induction Days on Tuesday 3rd July and this will involve most of our Year 6 pupils. Those pupils going to Chalfont Community College have transport provided by Chalfont Community College and this will leave from here, IVJS, promptly at 8.00 am. Children should arrive in time and their parents should see them onto the coach. Please be aware that this transport is not arranged by IVJS and there will not be a member of staff on the coach. The children will leave Chalfont Community College at 2.30pm and should be collected from the front of the school around 3pm. Chalfont students, please take money for lunch or a packed lunch along with a pencil case. For all other secondary schools parents will need to make their own transport arrangements. If you are not sure of arrival times etc. please contact the secondary school concerned. Children should only attend the induction days if they have a confirmed place at the school. Any Year 6 pupils who have their Induction on a different day are expected to attend school as usual. Yours sincerely, Jill Digweed Thank you to everyone who joined the Gardening Club for their plant sale last week. We were all blown away by the beautiful arrangements that they had created to sell and by the sounds of it, so were you as they managed to raise over £100!
In preparation for our Harry Potter Evening tomorrow, the whole school is learning to play Quidditch as one of their PE lessons today.
