This Week In School…
Year 3 – have been learning about multiplication in Maths this week. They have been using arrays, repeated addition and bar models to solve multiplication problems. In English, they have been planning and writing instructions about how to make a potion. They have been very imaginative with their ideas and have written instruction about potions to make you disappear, turn into a shark and to be able to fly! In Humanities, they have continued to learn about Pre-Historic Britain and have created their own cave paintings. In French, they have been learning about seasons with a focus on learning how to describe each season. Year 4 – have had a busy week in English. They have finished their retellings of the Norse Myth where Thor challenges the giants and have published this piece of work. They have also started planning and writing a narrative poem about a journey that the main character (from their guided reading text 'Arthur and the Golden Rope') goes on. They have been working really hard to make their poems rhyme too as an added challenge! In Maths, they have completed their unit on area by comparing the different areas of shapes. They have also begun their multiplication unit by looking at multiples of 3 and 6. In DT, they have been looking at where different fruits and vegetables grow around the world. In History, they have started their Ancient Greek topic but looking at the timeline of when Ancient Greece was and seeing where it fits into the overall history of the world. Year 5 – have had a busy week at school. In Maths, they have started delving into the world of fractions, exploring unit fractions and non-unit fractions. They have also started reading a new book in Guided reading - The London Eye Mystery. In English, they have begun to write a newspaper article about Salim's disappearance (this is related to the events of their guided reading book) and have worked hard to include success criteria such as relative clauses. In Science, they have also conducted experiments to explore separating techniques of mixtures. It has been a busy and fun week in Year 5! Year 6 – have been continuing to write their recounts based on PGL or non-PGL week in English this week. Everyone has enjoyed reading about what they got up to during the week! In Maths, they have finished their topic on the four operations in preparation for starting fractions during next week. The children have continued learning about the elements of art during their Art lessons and have produced some great work, ending with a 'silly' landscape which shows the variety of skills they have been learning about. In Computing, they have created their own online safety games. Comments are closed.
