As well as doing the normal English and maths, Lauren has been exploring new skills. She made a quiche from scratch and sewed herself a cushion with pockets for her phone!
She has also been doing computing lessons, starting with setting up a laptop, staying safe online and learning the importance of anti-virus. Finally, she has then gone online to do maths with Carol Vorderman and English with David Walliams. She says that she misses you all and is excited to get back to school with everyone! It would seem that both Daisy and Harvey are busy learning at home. They can been seen here up-cycling, playing the violin and guitar, doing PE with Joe and riding their bikes.
What have you been doing at home? Please email your class teacher... This morning at Iverwarts our witches and wizards started the day with some crafty crosswords, wizarding word searches and spooky colouring. Then, they made some Harry Potter bookmarks and enjoyed another herbology lesson in the sun. Before lunch, they had their favourite lesson of the week - slime making! After lunch, they finished their week by watching Harry Potter in action (with a delicious butterbeer) in our very own Iverwarts cinema!
Today our witches and wizards completed their Lego Hogwarts. Doesn’t it look fantastic! Then, they watered the potatoes they planted in yesterday’s herbology lesson. As you know, every wizard needs a faithful companion (and someone to deliver their post) so we made Hedwig the owl. After an exciting game of quidditch, they participated in a potions lesson and learnt how to make three new concoctions. What a busy day!
Liam has been busy baking some Easter Crispy Cookies - they look absolutely delicious!
Aniela has been learning a new skill - how to crochet! She has made a gorgeous hat for her meerkat - keep up the good work Aniela - we look forward to seeing your new creations. Jaycee has been busy building with her dad in the garden: making a bird table, vegetable patch and restoring old garden furniture - fantastic new skills! We are all excited to see all these new skills that you are learning in your homes - please email your teacher with any new skills you're working on! Today our wizards continued learning different spells to cast with their wands. They also took part in their first herbology lesson where they planted potatoes and poppies - both important ingredients in potion making! They began constructing a Lego Hogwarts which was a bit fiddly but we hope it will be finished tomorrow. They also learnt how to draw one of Hagrid’s favourite creatures - a niffler!
This is Joules in Year 6 taking part in a science investigation.
He was making universal pH indicator from red cabbage. He learnt that red cabbage has a chemical (flavin) that changes colour depending on the pH of a liquid. Joules and his dad extracted the red cabbage dye and soaked a piece of paper and let it dry. Once it was dry, they tested a number of chemicals to see the change of colour. They found that it turns pink for lemons and vinegar, stays the same for water but changes green for washing powder. Pink was an indication of an acidic chemical, no change for a neutral and green for an alkali. Thanks Joules! What science have you done at home? Please e-mail your class teacher with photos and write-ups. Here is an update on what Rosen class have been getting up to over the last couple of weeks... Daisy, Lola and Miles have been very busy sending regular updates on their home learning blogs. Daisy has also been spreading the word about the rainbow trail and created a flyer about it which she put through letter boxes in their road and now they are noticing more and more rainbows appearing in windows as they go on their daily walks. On the rainbow front, we have received some lovely rainbow pictures from Daisy, Holly, Leon, Lola, Molly and Scarlett. Daisy has also created a powerpoint about animals (attached) and has been doing lots of PE activities. Lola has been doing lots of outdoor activities including planting sunflower seeds. Miles has also done lots of activities outside, as well as baking cookies. Holly has been keeping busy with her writing and by doing maths, but she has also created a great portrait of herself as an adult. Molly has been sending regular updates on what she has been doing including Maths, English, Art, Geography and PE. Leon has been very busy and has been learning the piano, doing some coding activities, doing a range of art activities, following the David Attenborough Blue Planet series, as well as doing the core subjects. Joules has sent in information about a Science investigation he did which involved him making universal pH indicator from red cabbage (see story to come). Dheya has been in touch regularly on Purple Mash and has been doing some creative writing, as well as other activities including Science, Art and DT. Pavleen has been getting on with tasks on the website and is aiming to do some of the art tasks next week. Paul has been working through Maths and English activities, earning certificates for achievement along the way. Keep up the great work and keep e-mailing Mrs Bowden.
Today the children received their Iverwarts letter. After that, they were sorted into our Harry Potter houses using the sorting activity on the Pottermore website. Once we knew our houses, we made hats and wands and learnt wand actions for different spells. Finally, we had our lunch in the sunshine and made Hagrid’s Rock cakes and butterbeer. Let's see what tomorrow brings ...
Miss Bjorck, Miss Booth & Miss Fletcher Thank you to the parents of Zoe from Browne class for telling us about Week 2 at home ...
"Hello, end of week 2 report. We hope you are well. Zoe has been busy this week with her spelling, times tables and practising her hand writing. She has also painted a couple of masterpieces and planted some seeds. She whizzed through level 1,2&3 and only made one mistake on level 4 on the times tables mastery league. She has also read every day. 😅 I think she deserves her 2 weeks off. We hope you can relax and rest during the Easter holidays. Take care, The Kemps" Have a great Easter Break everyone - stay safe! |
