The children came in and got their motivation from exercising with Joe Wicks - there was no stopping them after this! After their daily learning doing maths and English they spent break playing Dodgeball in the hall with Mr Matthams. At 11.00 a.m. we held a minute's silence to honour the NHS and key workers. This week we are researching music through the decades. Today the children started their project by learning all about music from pre-historic times to the decade of Rock and Roll, the 1950's. They enjoyed listening to swing music, Elvis Presley and also dancing to Viva Las Vegas and Jail House Rock. The children have also begun preparing their script for their own news bulletin which they are planning to film and record. Premier League Primary Stars
The Premier League have recently updated their website with new resources linking football to: Maths, Literacy, PE, Science and ICT. These resources are great! They are also updating constantly with new competitions to take part in! Try this one linked to administration around football: Click here Healthy Minds Healthy Minds have come into school this year to run a workshop based around positivity and calmness. They are a relatively new organisation so have limited resources but have started to do workshops through a zoom meeting. (Zoom has been a revelation throughout this pandemic and has helped families and friends stay connected through this time. It can be downloaded from any app store for no cost and no sign up). During this difficult time we all need to be aware of our mental well-being so if you would like to give it a try then the times are : Monday – 1:00pm – 1:30pm Wednesday 3:00pm – 3:30pm Friday 10:00am -10:30am If you would like to get involved please get in contact with your teachers who will be able to provide you with a meeting ID and password. Mr Hawkes Here is our very own Miss Couves reading the first 2 chapters from one of her favourite books... Do you like to hear a story before your school day ends or before you go to bed? Well you are in luck because our very own Miss Couves will be reading one of her favourite books each day and we will be showing it on the website @4pm. It all starts Tuesday! What book will she choose?
Today we have had a lovely day settling back after the sunny weekend. The children started the day doing PE with Joe Wicks and showed the adults up including Joe Wicks who kept falling over! They then enjoyed doing their learning and there have been some impressive scores on the arithmetic tests - Mr Clifford will be pleased!
Due to the weather changing as of tomorrow the children made the most of being outside and played a variety of sports such as football, tennis, ping-pong and basketball. We would like to introduce all families across the UK to The #DailyMileAtHome. It’s an easy and fun way to keep fit and maintain good health and wellbeing for you and your children.
Instructions from the UK government are very clear – they are allowing us to take exercise outdoors, once a day, as long as we can keep a safe distance from others. Further government guidance on this can be found below. We all need to try to be physically active and The Daily Mile at Home can help almost everyone to do this. We believe that it will be useful for children, parents and carers in helping them to look after their physical and mental health. We already have Daily Mile guidance for schools, and now we’ve adapted it so you can use it at home and enjoy the same benefits. These come from 15 minutes or more of walking, running or jogging in the fresh air – doing it at whatever pace suits you best and wearing what you’ll feel most comfortable in. We’d love to see you doing The Daily Mile, so be sure to post on social media using #DailyMileAtHome. 3) Find your timetable and click the lesson that you would like to start and this will open up. 4) Use your Green Exercise Book that was given to you during your last week of term 5) Please contact your teacher if you have any questions...
The final country of our round the world trip this week was Italy in Europe.
The children started the day with their Joe Wicks workout and then went outside to water the plants in the beds, in the polytunnel and in the library. It was time for Maths after this and then Computing where the children did some research about Italy, before using the information they had found to produce a poster about the country in English. During lunch Jake wowed everyone with his extensive knowledge of many different sports including cricket and rugby - this was followed by another game of cricket. The afternoon started with some mindfulness colouring before the children had a go at making ciabatta pizzas which everyone enjoyed! We finished our week by watching Mr Clifford's Brainiac awards video clip. It has been a great week virtually visiting the different countries. |
