Let’s start the week by creating a storm! You'll need: a large jar or similar, shaving foam, pipette or eye dropper (or just use small drops from a spoon), food colouring, 1 or more small cups Mix up some food colouring with water in your small cup(s) - create as many cups of coloured water as you'd like. Fill the large jar about 3/4 full with water. Right before you're about to do the experiment, top the jar with shaving cream until it's just above the rim - this will be your cloud. From there, keep dropping coloured water on top of the shaving cream and keep an eye on what's happening below. When the shaving cream cloud gets too heavy, the colours will start to seep through like rain, just like what happens with real clouds! Don’t forget to send your teacher photos of your storm! Join astronaut Tim Peake and guests live during lockdown to talk about all things space - and beyond! Tim will be answering Children’s questions live at 11.30am. Over the hill and far away..... it's time for us to say bye bye!
The day began with our celebration assembly, the children made a fantastic audience and well done to Jaya for receiving the IVJS Brainiac. We completed today's learning by holding our own times table mastery league. Jake beat everyone with an amazing score of 144/144 in just under 3 minutes. Mrs Goggin and Miss Short were hot on his heels but not quite quick enough! The sun finally decided to make an appearance which allowed the children to play outside for a while, however, they were soon back in the classroom when they were bombarded by hail stones. Have a great and safe weekend! Here is our very own Miss Couves reading the final chapters from one of her favourite books... did you enjoy the story? We thought that we would bring the Celebration Assembly to you once again ... this week Miss Short has filmed herself in school reading out this week's winners! Mr Hawkes also filmed himself doing the Sportiac which will follow. Once again, we have had over 1,000 clicks on the website this week and we thank you for your continued support and all of the wonderful learning you are doing at home. After three days of joining Joe Wicks for PE we decided (or rather my aching legs did) that we would complete our own mile-athon. The children completed on average 16 laps of the playground. Once back in the classroom the children completed their learning and Year 5 wrote some exceptional poems about abandoned places. Then it was time to celebrate a special birthday - no not Captain Tom's.... but the lovely Ralph! The children made Ralph masks, posters and a birthday video for him. The music journey continued and we have reached present day where the children recognised some familiar artists. Here is our very own Miss Couves reading the next 2 chapters from one of her favourite books... did you enjoy yesterday's video? I am sure you have all heard of the amazing Captain Tom, who has raised more than £20million for the NHS. To mark his 100th Birthday, Mr Hawkes thought it might be nice to do 100 reps (in a day) of your chosen exercise. BE CREATIVE! 100 skips, 100 keepy uppies, 100 laps of your garden or up and down the stairs, 100 arm raises, 100 squats, 100 high knees, 100 hops... Be as creative as you like! Send pictures to your class teacher! What have we tried to do today Brain? Same thing we do every day Iver.....
Joe Wicks pushed the children to their physical limits but they still gave it a good go! They enjoyed their break outside as the weather gave them their freedom once more! They quickly settled back to their learning and completed their maths and English tasks. We continued our musical journey through the decades. We time travelled from the 60's to the 90's. The children wrote their own raps.... yo yo yo take a look a the photo...... bro! 😎 |
