This Week In School…
Year 3 – have settled well and are working hard on writing a diary entry using their text based story, The Tin Forest. In Maths, they have been working on their number bonds and adding and subtracting in 10s and 100s. In Science, they’re looking at plants and will be growing their own ones in the week!
Year 4 – have started the new term positively and have been working really hard from day one. In English, they have started reading the first book of the year, Varjak Paw. They’ve started writing an informal letter from Varjak to his grandfather, Elder Paw. In Maths, they have been refreshing their knowledge of place value and have been working with four digit numbers. In Science, they have been learning all about the digestive system and what each part does. They’ve even carried out an experiment visualising the digestive process and ended up making “poo”!
Year 5 – have been looking at Place Value and can now read really large numbers accurately. They have started looking at The Journey in Literacy and will be writing a poem over the next couple of weeks based on it. They have been enjoying reading and listening to some amusing poems too! They have also started learning about China! Ask Year 5 what they have learnt this week!
Year 6 – have started their year with a great attitude to learning and have already been working hard. In English, they have been writing story openers for different genres and in Science, the children have started their topic on Evolution and Inheritance. They have also started their new Humanities topic - Brazil.
