Today Year 6 took part in the Heathrow Cargo Challenge which is linked to the curriculum and has been established to inspire the next generation to consider a career at the airport. This Challenge is an enjoyable way for 10 and 11-year olds to explore their enterprise skills, develop social and personal skills and encourage team working and communication skills. It also provides an enjoyable way for Year 6 pupils to explore roles at the airport developing the core Heathrow World of Work skills. During the 2-hour challenge, pupils work in teams to help Heathrow deliver aid to a disaster zone. Helped by several Heathrow colleagues, pupils choose what cargo to send, how to get the cargo to the airport sustainably, and design and write coding programs to get the cargo to the planes efficiently. The challenge brings the curriculum to life and encourages pupils to aim high by thinking creatively, reasoning systematically, and working collaboratively. Comments are closed.
