Message to parents on using health services during COVID
Please remember, A&E services and your GP practice are still open during the coronavirus outbreak. GP surgeries are not allowing patients to directly book face to face appointments at the moment, to help stop the spread of the virus. They are, however, more than happy to discuss your case over the phone and to offer advice and guidance. In some cases they may be able to consult by video link, using mobile phones. If clinically appropriate, they can invite you to attend the surgery for an appointment at an arranged time. It is really important to stay well at this difficult time, so please contact your GP surgery if your child is poorly with any symptoms that cause you concern. With so much attention on coronavirus at the moment, we are aware you may be concerned your child has a different illness or may be living with a worrying condition like asthma or diabetes. So, if you are worried, please call your surgery to arrange a telephone consultation, or you can use the AskNHS app to book a call-back if you are 16 or over. This parent information form, produced by Barts Health and North-East London STP, gives very useful advice on when to use services like GPs, pharmacists, A&E and 999. All your health service staff are still there for you, even though they are having to do things a little differently. Please don't be afraid to use them if you are concerned about your child's health. Many thanks, Consultants in Public Health at Buckinghamshire Council Dear Parents,
I have 3 important pieces of information to share with you today. Firstly, a reminder about internet safety. It is inevitable at this time that you children will be spending a much greater proportion of their day online. However, it is important to continue to ensure that this time online is conducted in a safe manner. These are some basic requirements for safe internet use: • Primary age children should only access the internet in shared areas of the house where monitoring is possible, and never alone in a bedroom • Parental controls should be enabled on the highest setting. Beware of phones using mobile data. If possible ensure that where smart phones are being used, it is via home internet with parental controls in place • Children are instructed at school that they should only access sites specified by the teacher. It is important that you have this rule at home too. There is information on our website about e-safety and it can be found here https://www.ivervillage-jun.bucks.sch.uk/home-learning-internet-safety.html Secondly, you may have heard of the Government scheme to support families by providing vouchers for those children who receive Free School Meals. Vouchers are only being issued to those families who qualify for Benefits Related Free School Meals. Buckinghamshire Council provide the school with a list of children who qualify for this benefit and their families have been sent vouchers accordingly. However, the system set up by the government to issue the vouchers has had some problems and there have been delays in the system sending out the vouchers. We are closely monitoring the situation and if you should have received vouchers and haven’t done so by the end of the week please contact us at office@ivervillage-jun.bucks.sch.uk I am very aware that many families who did not previously qualify for this benefit, sadly, now do. We would like to start providing vouchers to more families as quickly as possible. If you think that you now qualify for Benefits Related Free School Meals because of a change in your financial circumstances, please urgently email office@ivervillage-jun.bucks.sch.uk with the following information: • Names of children who are pupils at our school • Full name of the main wage earner • Date of birth of main wage earner • National Insurance number of the main wage earner We will use this information to check for eligibility. If you are eligible, your details will appear on our database of qualifying families and you will start to receive vouchers. Please be aware that there is time lag between you applying for additional benefits and us being notified that you are eligible. I know that you are juggling a lot of demands right now, but the sooner we get this information the sooner we can start the process. Finally, this link takes you to a great website which can be used by all to make money spent on food go a little further during these difficult times: https://biteback2030.com/real-story/making-your-ps15-free-school-meal-voucher-go-further-home My very best wishes to you all. Miss Digweed Another busy day and a very happy Friday! We started the day out in the sunshine watering the plants we planted earlier in the week! Then we made dream catchers to hang in our windows with ‘Stay safe stay home’ messages inside. We also made cornflake cakes to take home and share (yum yum). We’ve also ‘styled our scooters’ we think they look pretty cool! Why not try to style your scooter at home? Finally we made our very own fork friends inspired by ‘forkie’ from toy story 4! Miss Couves, Mrs Orr and Mr Openshaw would like to say a big thank you to all the children in this week for helping us to have such a great time! We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
As promised, here is my attempt to play 'Balloon Tennis' at home. This is what you need: Balloon Area: Setting up something in between two sides (tennis court style) Players must be on their bottoms. Alternate serving, all shots must be underarm (so balloon goes up) Point scored every time the balloon touches the floor. Have you tried it yet? Send in your videos to your class teacher... We have been busy again today! This morning we made our very own owl toys out of socks and an old pillow! Have a look at our ‘parliament’ of owls (that’s what you call a group of owls). This afternoon we made flapjacks to enjoy at snack time! Check out the photo of our recipe and see if you can make them at home. They were delicious!
They have been brushing up on their vocabulary skills, playing a game of Scrabble!
What new words have you learnt since you have been learning at home? Send your words to your class teacher! #ivjs #ivjsdogs #vocabulary Georgie has been super busy cooking, arts and exercising during the lockdown period. Please see some of the amazing photos attached.
What are you doing at home? Please tell your class teacher via email... Today, we have been very busy. As it’s Mr Hawkes’s birthday, we made him a special birthday message and found all his lost property around the school to help us! Mr Openshaw gave us some football and basketball lessons! Then we made salsa and guacamole from scratch! We have also planted some seeds in the poly tunnel too!

She has also been doing computing lessons, starting with setting up a laptop, staying safe online and learning the importance of anti-virus. Finally, she has then gone online to do maths with Carol Vorderman and English with David Walliams. She says that she misses you all and is excited to get back to school with everyone! |
