This year we have been learning about healthy eating and active lifestyles across the school. Over the year, all children have developed their cooking skills and produced many delicious dishes throughout the year. To celebrate the children’s hard work over the year we will be having a Food Roadshow come to school on Friday 14th June 2019. The company will put on a “Ready Steady Cook” style show for all the children during the school day. The show will explain different cooking techniques as well as how to make a healthy meal. In order for the show to go ahead, a voluntary contribution of £2.00 per child is needed. This will cover the cost of the show presenters, their equipment and the food that will be cooked. Please return the attached form and voluntary contribution to school or contribute via the School Money system by Wednesday 12th June 2019. If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher. On Thursday 6th June, year 6 will be participating in a DT day where they will learn about the origins of various foods and will compare global diets. In addition, they will use their maths knowledge to calculate amount of ingredients required for given recipes so that there is enough for everyone to try some! During the day, we will also be teaching them kitchen skills such as cutting, grating and frying. The children will be carefully supervised during these activities by Miss Bjorck, Mrs Bowden or Mrs Orr with their safety as our main priority. Any known food allergies and intolerances will be taken into consideration when purchasing the ingredients, however, please could you let us know if you have any concerns or any recently developed allergies. Children will still require lunch on Thursday so please provide as usual. |
