The are beginning rehearsals for the Lower School Christmas production which will be held on 4th and 5th December 2018. The Year 4 children form the cast while the Year 3 children will form the choir, we would like to start preparing their costumes.
Please see the letters below about the costumes they will need. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the class teachers. This Monday, 20 enthusiastic Year 3s and 4s competed as Iver Village Junior School's A and B teams in a basketball tournament hosted by us. Our two teams played against St Peter's Primary School in Burnham's team with the winning team progressing to the County Finals in May.
After some very close games the final was between IVJS A team and St Peters School. IVJS played extremely well and won the game 10 baskets to 4 in the final crowning them champions. They join the Upper School Basketball team representing the county in the Finals in May! What an amazing achievement. Well done to all who took part! This weekend marked 100 years since the end of World War I.
We had a very memorable assembly in the week, learning all about poppies, the Cenotaph and how unique this year's celebrations will be. We have had our Year 6 School Councillors selling poppies around the school and even had designated bell ringers to ring the school bell on Sunday to mark the 2 minute silence. Some of our children even delivered wreaths to St Peters Church as part of their memorial service. Thank you to everyone who helped us mark this momentous occasion. Lest we forget. This Week In School… Year 3 – have finished their newspaper reports about the Iron Man who flew into Iver (landing in our playground of all places!) and began to apply their mathematical understanding to the written method of multiplication. Year 4 – have been looking at newspapers and the key features used to write newspaper reports. In Maths, they have been using the expanded method of multiplication to solve increasingly more difficult calculations. They have also been working hard on their Christmas production! Year 5 – have been learning about Ancient Greece! They learned about the differences between Athens and Sparta, and continued reading about the great journey of Odysseus. They also continued to explore Greek art and music, to help them gear up to their Greek Day in December! Year 6 – have been working hard on writing a newspaper report linked to their book, 'The Last Wild'. In Guided Reading, they have also been reading a book called 'Line of Fire', which is a diary written by an unknown French soldier during two months at the start of World War 1. They have found this book really interesting as we approach the centenary of the end of World War 1. They also did their shared assembly this week, giving the rest of us an insight into what the children did whilst they were away at PGL or whilst they did activities in Iver. It's that time of year again ... the return of the Times Tables Mastery League!
Every child is asked to complete a 100 times table square in 5 minutes. Any child that completes the 100 square correctly within the time frame will feature in the league! The Top 10 were as follows: 1) Alina 2 min 1 secs 2) Rahul 2 min 2 secs 3) Ria B 2 min 13 secs 4) Freddie 2 min 14 secs 5) Ria V 2 min 19 secs 6) Mysha 2 min 31 secs 7) Kayleigh 2 min 58 secs 8) Tommy 3 min 9) Leon W 3 min 01 secs 10) Emily 13 mins 26 Secs Can you get in that list next time?
