RE: Year 5 Science and PSHE Lessons – Summer term 2
Over Summer term 2 our science lessons are based on the topic ‘Life cycles’. Throughout this topic, children will learn about the life cycle of different animals including amphibians, insects, birds, mammals and plants including stages of fertilisation, reproduction and pollination respectively. The PSHE curriculum for summer term 2 focuses on the topic ‘Changing Me’. During this topic, children will learn about their own self-image and how their body image fits into that. They will also learn about how a girls / boys body changes during puberty and understand the importance of looking after yourself physically and emotionally. Below shows the outline of the lessons in the second part of the science unit that involve the lifecycles mammals and the reproduction of mammals and plants that will be covered and the vocabulary used. As these are part of the National Curriculum all children are expected to take part in these lessons. If you do have any questions or worries, please speak to a member of staff.
