![]() This Week in School… Year 3 – have been enjoying writing a set of instructions on how to build a den for Gregory Cool. They have included many features of instructional writing such as imperative verbs and time prepositions. In Maths, they have been working on solving mathematical problems involving volume and capacity. The children have had a great week despite the weather, they were also able to complete their sports day activities! Year 4 – have been delighted to be back at school! They have loved seeing each other’s smiling faces again! In English, they finished writing the narrative that they started during online and home learning. They have also started to create their own script, which they are going to turn into a movie of their very own over the next 2 weeks, Hollywood here we come! In Maths, they have started learning about co-ordinates and have really enjoyed mixing maths skills with map skills. In Science, they have started the exciting topic of electricity! They have learnt what electricity is and about complete and incomplete circuits. Year 5 – have had another busy week! They have written poems about an animal of their choice, using any poetry style they would like. Some have chosen rhyming couplets, some non-rhyming and others have tried other poetry forms. The children have really enjoyed having the freedom to produce their work in different ways. In Maths, they have been converting different units; converted kg and km, mm and km and units of time. They have really enjoyed the Art topic on Van Gogh. They have learnt how to use sketching pencils and created their own interpretations of Van Gogh's Sunflower using pastels. Year 6 – have been working incredibly hard as they have been filming their end of year production, Pirates of the Curry Bean. Everyone has been so impressed with how patient they have been whilst we are having to re-take scenes and by how hard they have all clearly worked on their part of the production (whether it is acting or one of the behind-the-scenes jobs). Thank you Year 6! The children also had an enjoyable Sports Day and showed great sportsmanship - they even managed to choose the one day of the week where there was hardly any rain!
