This Week In School… Year 3 – have continued mastering their understanding of fractions and have practised solving problems involving these. They have compared, ordered and added fractions. In English, the children have begun writing a short narrative about the journey of a pebble. They are being very creative and using their imagination to describe the pebble as a character. In Science, they are continuing to enjoy our topic on Rocks and Fossils. They particularly enjoyed learning all about how fossils are formed and then making their own fossils. Year 4 – have been learning to tell the time in one minute and five minute intervals as well looking at how time is represented on both analogue and digital clocks. In English, as they have listened to Edward Tulane discover friendship, they have started to write their own recipe for friendship! In Science, they have continued to explore different ways in which organisations protect habitats through conservation and Zoos, they have even made fact files and custom designed shelters for different animals. Year 5 – have had another very busy week! Year 5 have been looking at emails this week in English, they have looked at the features of an email and planned their own email. In Maths, they are continuing to look at adding and subtracting decimal numbers, they are really starting to become more confident now. They are also continuing with their science unit about space, learning about Geocentric verses Heiliocentric theories of the universe and night and day. In RE they have been looking at leaders. Year 6 – have been writing play scripts based on part of our book, 'Wolf Brother'. The children have continued to revise aspects of geometry in maths and have started a new topic in Humanities - The Maya Civilisation. So far, they have looked at the discovery of Chichen Itza, archaeological discoveries and how Maya society was organised. Comments are closed.
