This Week In School… Year 3 – have finished their letters to the local MP explaining how we all can improve the environment in Iver. In Maths, they have learnt the formal method of subtraction. They also really enjoyed making their leek and potato soup! Year 4 – have been writing to the local MP in English trying to convince him to help us improve recycling in Iver. In Maths, they have been using the expanded column method to add 3 and 4 digit numbers. They have also made some amazing chicken noodle soup (with handmade pasta noodles!) Year 5 – have been busy practising our narrative writing skills in English and making real life estimations in Maths. In Science, they have been exploring materials, they carried out an investigation into the best thermal conductors and insulators. The results have given them some great tips on how to keep warm this winter! To add to this busy week, they have also started to create their class letters ready to send off to their pen pals, they are so excited for their response! Year 6 – have been enjoying reading their Power of Reading book, The Last Wild, by Piers Today and have started to write their own escape stories, linked to the story plot. They were very lucky to have representatives from Heathrow Airport come in on Wednesday morning to deliver a computing activity in the form of a coding challenge. The children also enjoyed making bread for the Big Soup Share on Wednesday; all of which seemed to go down very well with those who were lucky enough to attend the event on Wednesday evening!
