Year 5 have also learnt about how intonation can help with their understanding of a text. In Maths, they have looked at using the formal written method for addition and answered word problems related to this. They have also carried out an experiment in Science, learning about which materials dissolve in water.

The children have been revising strategies for solving multiplication calculations in Maths and have started their Science topic for this half term: Evolution and Inheritance, where they have been looking at characteristics passed down to offspring and how various organisms are adapted to survive in their environment.
