Year 3 – have enjoyed making their own sandwiches during our DT day on Wednesday. Blake and Browne class then enjoyed having a picnic outside and eating their own specially made sandwiches. In English, Year 3 have finished writing their information texts all about the different types of rocks and fossils while in Maths, Year 3 have continued telling the time and looking at the duration of time. They were able to find the duration using a timeline and clocks. Year 4 – have written a biography about the life of fictional character Edward Tulane. They have written about the different events in his life that changed him from an emotionless rabbit to a rabbit who had learned to love. In humanities, they have explored more of their Roman topic. They have met some of the many Roman Gods and Goddesses, explored the highs and lows of joining the Roman army and reported on the events of Pompeii. In PE, now that the weather is a bit better they have enjoyed a round robin style tennis tournament. Year 5 – have been writing a setting description about one of the scenes in the class book, 'Cosmic'. They have really concentrated on adding descriptive language including, prepositions, similes, metaphors, synonyms and fronted adverbials to draw the reader in. They have enjoyed reading the end of the book to find out what happened to the characters. They have researched the desert landscape, planned, written and published a fact file this week. In Maths, they have been learning about angles, they have been able to name, order and measure angles! Year 6 – have welcomed back those children in the year group who had been away on their residential trip to PGL; it was great to hear about all their adventures. Following on from this, in English, the children have been writing a recount of last week. They have continued learning about the Maya civilisation in Humanities; and have finished reading the class book - Wolf Brother - in Guided Reading. Auditions for the Y6 End of Year Production, Pirates of the Curry Bean, were held this week and we were very impressed by the quality of the acting we saw - it made it a particularly difficult task to cast the show! Everyone is now looking forward to rehearsals which will start after half term. Comments are closed.
