This Week In School… Year 3 – have been practising using formal method for addition and subtraction for a variety of problems in Maths, including money problems. They have also been working hard to finish their letters to Dominic Greeve, MP regarding climate change and the need to prevent further destruction of our environment. Year 4 – have been using their knowledge of newspaper features to write our own based on their book 'Varjak Paw'. In Maths, they have been using addition and subtraction operations to help use solve problems which include money. In Art, they have been creating Benin clay art using the African Savannah as inspiration. In Science, they have been comparing the types of teeth of different animals and coming up with scientific reasons why animals have different teeth. In Humanities, they have continued to look at Ghana and this time, have focused on Ghana as a tourist destination. For the Big Soup Share, year 4 created a delicious mushroom soup! Year 5 – have been focusing on multi step word problems which involve both subtraction and addition in Maths, In English, they have used their knowledge of the refugee crisis to write a newspaper article. In Science, Year 5 have been investigating how materials dissolve to form a solution while for the Big Soup Share, they made a festive pumpkin soup and even roasted their own pumpkin seeds! Year 6 – have been focusing on Art and have looked at the work of artists Leonora Carrington and Diego Rivera. As part of these lessons, the children have all made their own dream catchers (which were very good!) and have started work on drawing a person they are amazed by. In English, they have been publishing their first person escape stories while in Maths this week, they have been looking at methods for solving division calculations. Comments are closed.
