Thank you to everyone who joined us today for the first Parent Coffee Morning of the school year! We had a fantastic time with our parents and a really good chat with some fantastic ideas for the school. We combined our morning with MacMillan Cancer Research’s Biggest Ever Coffee Morning and sold some very delicious cakes to raise money for charity. A huge thank you to Mrs Witheridge and our other parents for spending the week baking some of the most incredible cupcakes to help us support Macmillan Cancer Research. Thank you to all the parents who attended our Coffee Morning today. We discussed the topic of Attendance at school and how we are planning to improve the attendance of our children at IVJS.
This afternoon we were lucky enough to have a special visitor come and speak to parents about Internet Safety and what it means for their child. It was an interactive session which all parents found to be really informative. Thank you to Graham who delivered the meeting this afternoon.
Thank you to everyone who attended Friday’s Maths Coffee Afternoon. Mr Clifford and Miss Zughaid had a fantastic chat with parents about how Maths is taught throughout the school and what parents can do to help their children at home. We will be holding the next Coffee Morning on Friday 23rd March so keep an eye out for details!
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Coffee Morning today. We discussed the topic of P4C (Philosophy 4 Children). What is P4C? P4C stands for Philosophy for Children. The aim is to help children become more thoughtful, more reflective, more considerate and more reason-able individuals. Children are taught how to create their own philosophical questions. They then choose one question that is the focus of a philosophical enquiry, or dialogue. The teacher becomes a facilitator, supporting the children in their thinking, reasoning and questioning, as well as the way the children speak and listen to each other.
