Y5 Christmas Unwrapped Trip

5/11/2025

 Dear Y5 Parents/Guardians,

We are delighted to let you know that Year 5 have been invited to take part in an exciting presentation of the Christmas story called “Christmas Unwrapped”, led by Rev. Sarah and her team at St Peter’s Church. The session will take place on Wednesday 19th November, and the whole of Year 5 will attend together in the afternoon. The presentation will last for approximately 75 minutes and will be held at the church.

Christmas Unwrapped is a fun and interactive presentation exploring the Christmas story. During the session, children will have the chance to interview key characters from the Nativity, take part in a festive quiz with the ‘Nutty Professor’, decorate star-shaped biscuits, and even learn a Christmas rap to finish. The event has been run successfully in many schools over the years and is designed to be inclusive and engaging for all children, regardless of faith or background.

We will walk to and from the church, accompanied by school staff, and there is no cost for this visit. Please ensure your child brings a warm coat and sensible footwear, as we will be walking and spending some time outdoors.

Please complete and return the consent slip send home on the paper copy of this letter by Friday 14th November to confirm that you are happy for your child to join us for this special visit. We are very much looking forward to being part of this enjoyable and meaningful Christmas event with the local church community.

Yours sincerely,
Miss Marshall

2026 Woodrow Residential

3/11/2025

Dear Parents/Guardians,

In 2026, we have decided to explore a new residential provision due to lower participation in recent years and feedback from parents regarding the length of stay and cost. As a result, we have chosen a centre that is much closer to school and offers a shorter stay. This will mean that you would need to drop off and collect your child directly from the site, thus removing the need for coach travel. Ultimately, this will make the residential more cost-effective for all families.

We have provisionally booked a 2-night residential visit to Woodrow, in Amersham, Buckinghamshire https://woodrowhighhouse.org/ from Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th November 2026. The visit includes a programme of activities similar to what we would have experienced on previous trips to PGL. The group will be accompanied by teaching staff from the school and fully qualified instructors at the centre supervise each activity. Whilst the trip is not essential for curriculum purposes, it provides an excellent opportunity for children to extend their learning and to refine their personal and social skills. The residential trip is at beginning of the academic year which will allow the children to gain confidence going into their last year at primary school. It is also an opportunity for teachers to identify different strengths in children that we can build on throughout the year. A meeting for parents giving detailed arrangements will be held nearer the time.

In order to help organise and plan this trip in advance, we would need to get an idea of the numbers of pupils who would like to attend. Therefore, for the visit to take place a payment of £230.00 per child is required. A non-refundable deposit of £50.00 must be paid via School Money in order to hold a place by 24th November 2025.

The full cost must be paid by monthly instalments via School Money by 1st April 2026, although we would appreciate it if payments could be made as early as possible. If you receive Free School Meals, your child is Pupil Premium or you have any other difficulties involving the cost then please feel free to contact the school. No refunds can be given after 30th April 2026 unless a place is taken up by another student.

Only a very limited number of places are available and we ask that deposits are returned to school no later than 24th November 2025 to avoid disappointment. These will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once this window closes, we will not be able accept any late bookings.

Payment:  £230 total
Non-refundable Deposit of £50 by 24th November 2025.
5 regular monthly payments of £36.00 starting on 01/12/25 until 01/04/26 via School Money.

Please note, paying the deposit means you agree to the following:

I agree to make the monthly instalments by the due date each month and understand that failure to do so may lose my child their place on the residential. I also understand that there will be no refunds issued if my child moves school or change my mind – unless another student take up the place.

Yours sincerely,

Mr P Clifford
