Dear Parents/Guardians,
This term for DT the children have been busy planning and designing how to make a healthy meal using seasonal vegetables. Next week, the children will be making their own soup dish that they have designed as a class; the school will provide the following ingredients below:
Please be aware that they will still need their lunch as usual on this day. If your child has any allergies or dietary requirements linked to the ingredients listed above, please complete the paper form sent home or email the school office by Monday 24th November, 2025. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Ms. Wick and Mrs. Punny Dear Parent / Carer,
On Friday 12th December, the children have the option of completing a Sponsored Santa Dash in the morning prior to School beginning. This date is Christmas Jumper Day at IVJS, so the children may come to school in their Christmas Jumper and non-uniform. For the Santa Dash, they may also wish to accessorize with any other festive add ons! Children will need to be in the playground by 8.15am to participate in the sponsored run. Families are welcome to watch and support from underneath the shelter in the centre of the playground. We would like to ask family to leave promptly once the race is complete to allow the students to register on time. Children will be sent home with a sponsor form for the event. All money raised in sponsorship will continue to help us to raise funds for FISA, enhancing the learning opportunities for all our children in the Village Schools. We have mapped out a route around our school playground which is 1km long when 5 laps have been completed. We are challenging the children to ‘dash’ the 1km, however we know some children will feel more comfortable doing this at a slower pace, perhaps walking/ jogging with their friends. For children who wish to challenge themselves, we have included an option on the sponsor form where they may wish to get sponsored for a ‘bonus amount’ if they can achieve the 5 laps within 10 minutes. This is for you to discuss with your child and decide on an amount should you wish to take part in this extra challenge. We kindly ask that any money from the sponsored event be collected by yourselves and brought into school on the day, Friday 12th December. If you have any questions or queries, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Let’s encourage our children to fundraise along with us by asking family, friends and neighbours to sponsor them. Kind regards, FISA Our School Council have decided on a bake sale to raise money for our school charity, Dogs for Autism!
The bake sale will be held at 3.15pm on Thursday 20th November at the front of the school. If you can help by donating either store bought or home baked cakes (please bring a list of ingredients with anything homemade), we will be accepting donations Wednesday and Thursday this week. Then, please drop by Thursday afternoon to see what wonderful goodies are available to buy. Please also remember, we are a nut free school so no nuts please, as always, we leave them for the squirrels! Dear Parent/Carers, Great news! Bikeability will be coming to The Iver Village Junior School to do Bikeability training with children in Year 6. Our training will take place at/around school on the 2nd to the 4th February 2026 during the school day. The Bikeability Level 2 course is progressive. It aims to improve rider’s skills and confidence for cycling on local roads and simple junctions without too much traffic. As part of the course, we cover Bikeability Level 1 fundamentals which ensures your child is safe to ride on the roads. All the riders will have to show the instructors they can do everything at the Bikeability Level 1 before they can go on the roads. Each child will require a roadworthy bike, a helmet, suitable clothing for spending up to 90 minutes riding a bike outside (e.g. A shower-proof coat if it is going to rain, gloves if cold) and secure flat shoes/trainers, water, other personal requirement e.g. Medication needs, sun cream, inhaler. Roadworthy condition means both brakes are fully working, tyres pumped up, gears (if present) operate as designed, chain properly lubricated. The cost of the course is £10 per child. Places are limited. If you would like to reserve your child a place, please book it on your School Money account, this will only be open to children who did not take part in last year's qualification. Once reserved, the school will send you our online forms to fill in to complete your child's booking. Yours sincerely, BeSpoke Cycling Instruction |
