Some children will be remaining at school and will be taking part in school based activities instead. We thought you might like to know some of the things that they will be doing (a detailed timetable of the week will be sent home with the children when all activities are finalised).
Click here to view the full letter. On Saturday we celebrated the 120th Birthday of our wonderful school. It was wonderful to welcome back to the school so many ex-pupils and staff. Thank you to everyone who came along, it was delightful to have so many people celebrate our school’s birthday. This Week In School…
Year 3 – have started writing descriptive poems about a pebble in their pockets! They have also learnt all about similes, metaphors and onomatopoeia. In Maths, they have focused on understanding place value. Year 4 – have revised place value including thousands and tens of thousands. In English, they have explored how the character feels and described his dream using a range of words including preposition phases. Year 5 – have been looking at place value and how to round large numbers off. In English, they have finished writing a poem based on The Journey. Year 6 – have completed their 11+ exams, well done to everyone! In English, they have been drafting exciting story openings. Year 3 – have had a brilliant week settling into their new classes. They have started to learn about the authors the classes are named after and written some exciting stories about a baboon that lives on the moon. Year 4 – have been introduced to Roald Dahl and Julia Donaldson stories and discussed Growth Mindset and class character. They have also made predictions about the book Tin Forest. Year 5 – have settled in well to their new classes. They have had a look at Roman numerals and amazed everyone at how brilliant they are at it. They have also started on the decorations for the 120th IVJS birthday celebrations. Year 6 – have been investigating different genres and begun identifying the features so they can write their own openings next week.
