This week we have been incredibly lucky to have the fantastic author, Mo O’Hara come to visit us at IVJS.
She hosted an assembly based on her brilliant book ‘My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish’ and gave us all an insight into how she came up with such a popular story. She managed to get all the creative minds whirring by helping everyone come up with their own stories by creating a map of their characters, settings and plot. Today we had a school assembly for Safer Internet Day.
This year’s theme is ‘Play your part in a better internet’. The internet is an amazing place which can help us in our real lives, provide us with entertainment, allow us to communicate and help us learn new things so in assembly, everyone had to think about what we can do ourselves to make the internet a better place and what it would be like to live in a world without it. Last week was Dragon Week! An angry dragon came back to find her eggs that someone had hidden from her! Each class had to find an egg to stop the dragon from attacking the school. Everyone got involved creating fantastic art pieces, poems and even handy booklets with advice on how to keep dragons as pets.
After half term, clubs will run through till 18th March 2016. There will be the regular fee of £2 / £3 per club or £8 / £12 per half term (4 weeks) for all clubs except Homework club which will remain free.
Clubs available this term will be: Table Tennis Club Crafty Club Shake Up Club Football and Netball Clubs Homework Club Click here to view the full letter. This week's all new Brainiac Awards have been handed out for excellent poetry, positive attitudes to SAT's and even brilliant use of fronted adverbials! Nicely done guys.
