So, today's country in North America was ... Jamaica.
After starting the day with some quiet reading and then the more vigorous Joe Wicks workout, the children all worked together to ensure all the plants in the polytunnel and in the library were all sufficiently watered. It was then time for some maths and then break where the children took their kites out to fly again and had a great time doing this. After break the children located Jamaica on our giant map of the world before using laptops to do some research about the country and then writing a paragraph about what they had found out. During lunch time the children played cricket again and then it was time for some Art. They found out about a Jamaican artist called Bernard Hoyes - one of the most famous artists from Jamaica - and looked particularly at one of his most famous paintings, the vibrant Dancing Ladies. The children practised techniques for using oil pastels before having a go at drawing their own dancing lady and colouring it using the techniques they had learnt with oil pastels. They produced some great pictures. Our final continent tomorrow is going to be Europe. Comments are closed.
