History
History at Iver Village Junior School aims to create historians who are inquisitive learners who put pieces of the past together and show how we came to be where we are today. They are inspired to research events, learn about people in the past and prepare themselves for the 21st Century. Throughout their time at our school children will learn about different periods of British History and some world civilisations, whilst developing an understanding of different sources of information. They will raise their own questions while reaching conclusions and express them in a persuasive and convincing way. Our historians will leave with a deeper understanding of the wonders of the past.

Geography
Our geography curriculum aims to help children to become explorers; understanding the world, its environments and places near and far, and the processes that create and affect them. We encourage a holistic appreciation of how the world works and the links between community, cultural diversity and sustainability. Children get the chance to explore different countries and investigate human and physical features whilst comparing it to their own local environment. We aim to develop our children’s natural fascination for the world around them.

RE
Religious Education at Iver Village Junior School is an important component of our broad and balanced curriculum. It provides opportunities to enable children to explore, make and respond to the beliefs and experiences of others as well as their own experiences. Children will leave lessons exploding with questions and inspired to learn about the faiths and cultures around them. We aim to promote children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development; preparing them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the present and the future.

Assemblies
We have daily assemblies in our school. We have an assembly on Mondays lead by either the head teacher, the lower school lead on Tuesdays, singing assembly on Wednesdays and class assemblies on Thursdays. Then Fridays are used for whole school assembly and this is a time that we use to share in the celebration of different pupils' achievement. Classes and individual pupils are recognised and rewarded for a variety of different aspects of our school life. For example, classes win biscuits for the highest attendance and classes win the shield for their dedication and focus that week.
