Curriculum Support for Parents

At IVJS, we know that the school curriculum has evolved over the years and our parents may benefit from extra resources for key subjects. The following page should include relevant, useful and supportive information to help you with your child’s learning.

You will find links to show the way we teach our maths lessons in class as well as guidance on some of our other subjects.

Maths

We follow the White Rose scheme of work for maths. We cover a range of topics across the terms and would like to direct you to videos aimed at parents to help them support their children by explaining the changes in modern teaching methods:

English

Please see below a range of resources to support reading at home with your child. We teach different reading skills in guided reading and the following information and prompt sheets will give you some ideas of questions to ask your child as they are reading:

Other Useful Resources

Personal Safety
We have been focussing on personal space, boundaries and limits in assemblies and our PSHE lessons. This is the video we have shared with children that you may wish to discuss with your child at home as well.
Online Safety
The online world poses its own risks to children and it is important that schools, parents and carers work together to teach children about online dangers. Teaching children how to use the internet safely is a vital part of safeguarding our children.
We are delighted to announce that Iver Village Junior School has shown our commitment to protecting pupils by working with National Online Safety- providing resources for all parents and carers.

The resources include Parents & Carers courses (presented by Myleene Klass), online video resources and weekly guides covering a huge range of topics, including Online Relationships, Fake Profiles and Social Bots, Online Bullying, Online Grooming etc. To create your account, please follow https://nationalonlinesafety.com/enrol/The-Iver-Village-Junior-School and complete your details. When you’re set up, you’ll be able to set ‘Parent/Carer’ as your user type.

You can access National Online Safety online via any device and answers to frequently asked questions can be accessed at https://helpdesk.thenationalcollege.co.uk/helpcentre.
