This Week In School… Year 3 – have begun to look at how to find the perimeter of both regular and irregular shapes in Maths and have started writing diary entries from the perspective of the Iron Man in English. They have also had a lovely morning yesterday for British Values Day learning all about the law in relation to wildlife. Year 4 – have been very bossy, they’ve been learning all about imperative verbs in preparation for writing instructions. In Maths, they have been putting their times tables to the test by solving multiplication calculations using both the expanded and compact method. For British Values morning, they focused on the Protection of Badgers Act 1992. Did you know they live in setts which they pass on to generation after generation? Year 5 – have been retelling a chapter in the story of Odysseus in English and have been looking at dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 in different contexts in Maths. PSHE has taught them a lot about road safety and they have also been finding out all about hedgehog habitats for British Values Day! Year 6 – have started working on their new Power of reading book, Varmints in English. Following their recent newspaper report writing, the children have identified aspects of the features and success criteria that they did not achieve and are now aiming to achieve these in a new newspaper report, this time linked to the new book. In Maths, they have been learning how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers; and in PSHE the children have been finding out about basic first aid and what they can do in an emergency.
