We have set up a password protected page on our website for the children who will be attending the 2019 PGL trip as there are some children who are unable to have their photos taken and shared publicly.
Please click through to the google form below to give permission for your child to appear in photos on the invite only, password protected site and to request access to the page. This Week In School… Year 3 – have been looking at the formal method of subtraction in Maths. They have also been writing a formal letter to our local MP about starting a campaign to protect our environment from climate change – very important stuff! They have had a fantastic afternoon getting ready for the end of the year by designing Christmas/Winter cards that will be available to buy at the end of the month! Year 4 – have explored the structure of a newspaper and we have started to employ those features in our own writing. In maths, we have used column addition to work out single and multi-step problems. In science, we have concluded our investigation on tooth decay and have found that blackcurrant squash did the most damage to our eggs. In humanities, we have been looking at the economy of Ghana and how trade and exportation helps to improve a country's economy. Year 5 – have been finishing their narrative writing and have written some amazing sentences! You will be really impressed when you come and see their work! Lots of children in Year 5 have completed their Bikeability course and are now ready to ride the streets of Iver! Watch out! Year 6 – have been writing their own escape stories, linked to their book, 'The Last Wild' in English. So far the stories are great and everyone is looking forward to reading them all once they are finished. They have had a focus on RE this week and the children have learnt about creation stories and beliefs for different religions. As you know, Year 6 take part in an off-site week between 14th and 18th October 2019. As your child will be remaining at school, they will be taking part in school based activities instead. During the week this year, the children will be learning about and taking part in activities linked to World War 2. This will include a trip to St Peter’s Church, Iver, on the morning of Wednesday, 16th October. Whilst at the church, Revd. Robert Gooding will give the children a brief history of the church and how it was involved in and effected by World War 2; and the children will have an opportunity to look around the churchyard to find any evidence of the local community during World War 2. If any parents/carers are able to assist on this trip, we would be grateful if you could let us know on the slip below. We will contact you to let you know if your help is required and to confirm details nearer the date. Please complete the slip attached giving permission for your child to walk to and from the church and return it as soon as possible but certainly by Friday, 11th October 2019. We are excited to announce that this year we will be taking part in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Big Soup Share again! The Big Soup Share is a national event which hopes to involve as many people as possible around the country in sharing delicious, nutritious soup. Each child will be involved in making soup in class to serve at the soup share. Every year group will be making a different flavour soup, please see the links to each year group's letter for the full letter with ingredients and reply slips for the children to take part. Please note, we will need confirmation of all dietary requirements to ensure up to date information the school holds. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with your child’s class teacher. |
