Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are hoping to go ahead with the 4-night residential visit to the Windmill Hill near Hailsham, Sussex from Monday 18th October – Friday 22nd October 2021. The visit includes a full programme of activities and is similar to those we have run in the past. The group will be accompanied by teaching staff from the school and fully qualified instructors at the centre supervise each activity. The cost will include travel to and from the PGL centre and full board while they are away. Whilst the trip is not essential for curriculum purposes, it provides an excellent opportunity for children to extend their learning and to refine their personal and social skills. A meeting for parents giving detailed arrangements will be held nearer the time. The Year 6 residential trip is at beginning of the year to allow children to bond with their new teacher ready for the remainder of Year 6. It is also an opportunity for teachers to identify different strengths in children that we can build on throughout the year. We would like to offer you a final chance to send your child and we need to confirm the numbers of pupils who would like to attend. Therefore, for the visit to take place a payment of £410.00 per child is required. If you have not already paid your deposit please pay a non-refundable deposit of £50.00 via School Money in order to secure a place by 31st March 2021. The full cost must be paid by monthly instalments of £60 a month (for 6 months) via School Money from April 2021 and fully settled by 30th September 2021, although we would appreciate it if payments could be made as early as possible. Cash and cheques will also be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to Buckinghamshire Council Receipts Account. If you receive Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Child Tax Credit (not entitled to Working Tax Credit and with an income below £16040pa) please feel free to contact us if there are any difficulties involving the cost. Payments may also be made in more frequent smaller amounts but the balance must be settled by the end September. Only a limited number of places are available and we ask that deposits are paid no later than 31st March 2021 to avoid disappointment. Payments: £410 total Non-refundable Deposit of £50 by 1st April Six Monthly payments of £60 starting on 1/4/21 until 1/9/21 via School Money Yours sincerely, Mr P Clifford Dear Parent, Bikeability Level 2 cycle training at Iver Village Junior School A cycle training course will be run at your child’s school, starting on Wednesday 24th March and finishing on Friday 26th March. This course is partially funded by Buckinghamshire Council and open to Year 5 only. There are only twenty-four places available and it will be on a first come first serve basis. Completed forms and full payment must be bought back in to school by Friday 12th March. The Bikeability Level 2 course develops student’s skills and confidence for cycling on single-lane roads with simple junctions and mostly moderate traffic. During the training children will learn how to make independent decisions and cycle safely and responsibly. As part of the course we cover Bikeability level 1 fundamentals which ensures your child is safe to ride on the roads. However, if your child is not deemed safe, they will not proceed to Level 2. Before allowing your child onto the road they need to be able to signal confidently, using one hand to steer the bike without wobbling. For the safety of your child this is a compulsory requirement and without these skills we cannot take them onto the road. To avoid disappointment, we advise making sure your child is confident doing the above. Cycles must be roadworthy and have TWO working brakes. For more details about courses and some useful information regarding helmets, bike sizing, etc. please visit our web site at www.spokesci.com The cost of the course is £10 per child. If you would like your child to take part, you can pay for a place on your SchoolMoney account, under the shop tab. Please also sign and return the enclosed consent form. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via the school or on the email address below. Kind regards BeSpoke Cycling Instruction Ltd Red Nose Day will be on Friday 19th March this year. We will be keeping it simple by wearing something red on the day for a £1 donation to Comic Relief. Children will be allowed to wear their own clothes, preferably with a red theme (even if the only red item is a pair of socks!). We will be collecting donations at the front of the school so children can drop their donations off with the teachers on the way into school. We have had a few questions from parents about lateral flow tests for households. The government announced recently that households with children can have lateral flow tests. They have told schools that they will be sending a letter for parents, but this hasn't arrived yet. The only information we have is from the government's website. The link is here https://www.gov.uk/guidance/rapid-lateral-flow-testing-for-households-and-bubbles-of-school-pupils-and-staff
You may want to get some tests in preparation for returning to school. You can find your nearest test pick up site here: find-covid-19-rapid-test-sites.maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk Please note we do not have any lateral flow tests at school to give to families. Dear Parents/ Guardians,
When we return to school next week, we will only have 3 and a ½ weeks left to the Easter holidays and so we need to think about uniform. I feel we need to use common sense when thinking about uniform! At the moment things are difficult for most families and therefore, spending money on uniform is not sensible. So here are my thoughts on the exciting topic of uniform!
Yours sincerely, Miss Digweed Dear Parents/Guardians, We are very excited to be able to welcome all the children back to school on Monday 8th March. We will be operating the same systems as we did in the Autumn term and below is a summary in case you have forgotten!
Wrap Around Care (7.30am – 4.30pm): We are only able to provide very limited places for parents who have no other means of child care. The costs will be £7 for the morning and £3.50 for the after school care. Places MUST be booked a week in advance. Please call the school reception to book. Parental Agreement: Please see the Parental Agreement for the safe return of pupils to school on 8th March 2021. Please be aware, if you are sending your child into school, then we will presume that you are in agreement with, and will follow, the points in the parental agreement. Please click on the document below for the full parent agreement:
For selected pupils (parents informed individually), Reading Gladiator sessions will be run during the school day and the pupils will be reading, discussing, debating themes and analysing the selected texts. Additionally, the children will be set reading homework each week to be completed ready for the forthcoming session and as such they have been issued with a plastic wallet to keep their book and reading journal in. Ideally, they should bring the book into school every day.
Reading Gladiators is a national scheme and there are competition challenges that accompany the books, some challenges involve the pupils and/or the artwork they produce being photographed or videoed and then uploaded onto the Reading Gladiator Website. We would be grateful if you would give your permission for child to be photographed so that their pictures may be used in external media as competition entries. Please note, should your child not be allowed to have their image shared externally, they are still welcome in the Reading Gladiators club. If you have received a text message informing you that your child is taking part in their year group's Reading Gladiators club, please fill in the permission form below: Yours sincerely, Miss Bjorck |
